index.php displaying 'TEXT_GREETING_PERSONAL' instead of greeting

This is regarding the section that displays CONGRATS, YOUVE INSTALLED ZEN CART on the home page

I moved the index from the english languages folder to my templates folder

It no longer displays congrats youve installed zen cart

Now it displays this:
HEADING_TITLE

TEXT_GREETING_GUEST

Not what I have defined them as. Any ideas?

Re: index.php displaying 'TEXT_GREETING_PERSONAL' instead of greeting

catalog/includes/templates/mostlygrey/index.php

Line #18 : define('TEXT_GREETING_PERSONAL', 'Hello <span class="greetUser">%s</span>! Would you like to see our <a href="%s">newest additions</a>?');

According to the tutorial, its because either they are not defined, or a synax error.

It looks defined. Nothing is showing up in the cache folder for errors. Is there another way to check for syntax error?

I even tried to disregard the lines with // but oddly, NOTHING changed when I view my main page

// Showcase vs Store
//if (STORE_STATUS == '0') {
// define('TEXT_GREETING_GUEST', 'Welcome <span class="greetUser">Guest!</span> Would you like to <a href="%s">log yourself in</a>?');
//} else {
// define('TEXT_GREETING_GUEST', 'Welcome, please enjoy our online showcase.');
//}

The path should be this:

includes/ languages/ english/ mostly grey/ index.php

Re: index.php displaying 'TEXT_GREETING_PERSONAL' instead of greeting

I made the path: includes/ languages/ english/ mostly grey/ index.php

and

deleted the index.php from / includes/ templates/ mostlygrey/ index.php

Now the formatting for the fonts is messed up on all the category and home pages (the product pages have correct formatting)

Also, at the very top of the page /? is displayed or ?/

Anyone with any input is greatly appreciated :)

Re: index.php displaying 'TEXT_GREETING_PERSONAL' instead of greeting

I tried creating catalog/includes/templates/mostlygrey/

and copied english.php into it, and changes i made did not override the english.php in the languages folder. So maybe that has something to do with why I am experiencing problems with I move the index.php file there

Is there something else I need to do?

As soon as I move the index there, it fixes the define problems, but fonts get screwy, and at the top of the page it displays <? like you see in php source code<?php except it doesnt say php.
