Flash buttons don't work in...

I've read several threads, including this one on how to add Flash objects to Zen Cart, but I still don't know where to place the HTML.

I would like the entire headerWrapper be one big Flash object (850px by 272px)... and I don't believe you can have a Flash object as a "background-image" ... which is what I have there now.

Can someone explain how to accomplish this, or point me to a thread that does?

Thanks :)

Here's the store in question... I want the entire area above the breadcrumbs nav to be on Flash object.

Re: Flash buttons don't work in...

Stuff it into tpl_header.php

Granted, I'd be more inclined to embrace HTML5 than Flash nowadays.

I'm with you on the move-away-from-Flash front -- I'm deep into HTML5, CSS3 and jquery these days, but this is an old site and I'm not getting paid and I just want a quick and dirty solution... :)

Re: Flash buttons don't work in...

Be sure to use a custom version of tpl_header.php. If you don't already have one in your custom template, copy the original from the template_default and use that as a base for the custom one you upload to your site.

I tried sticking it in the tpl_header and it showed up, but tiny... like it was being squeezed into a small space around 40% the size of the headerWrapper, toward the top, centered... should I put it in the logoWrapper maybe?

<div id="headerWrapper">

Re: Flash buttons don't work in...

You'll have to select an appropriate div to stick it into based on where you want it to appear. Firebug may be a help.
Keep in mind that tpl_header is stuck inside an corresponding section of tpl_main_page. That may or may not be related to your issues.
You could of course remove elements that aren't relevant for your needs as long as you're not removing functionality that's actually used on your site.

Re: Flash buttons don't work in...

Well... I got the Flash object into the logoWrapper, via tpl_header.

However, there's one weird behavior: the menu buttons don't work on the store's home page. BUT... if you click to any other page besides the home page, the menu buttons work. I am using absolute URLs in my Flash object.

Here's the store's home page:

http://www.kenrichsounds.com/shop/index.php

It's like it somehow disables Flash "getURL" on the index.php page or something.

Ideas?

Re: Flash buttons don't work in...

I added a Flash menu in logoWrapper (via tpl_header.php). There is one very odd behavior:

The menu buttons do not work on the store's home page. BUT... if you click to any store page besides the index page, the menu buttons DO work. (I am using absolute URLs in my Flash object.)

Here is the store's index page:

http://www.kenrichsounds.com/shop/index.php

The horizontal menu buttons will not work on this page but if you click to a product page or category page, for example, then the menu buttons do work. Weird.

Suggestions?

Re: Flash buttons don't work in...

Aside: some of your product descriptions in the /shop/ version of your site contain links to the /store/ version of your site, and the /store/ version is showing a warning message about your configure.php file being writable.
You need to take care of that. Displaying that message for search engines to consume exposes you to security troubles.

Incidentally, I just renamed that directory "store_old" so you may get a 404 error now, if you can find the link again.

I recently did a clean install of the latest Zen Cart and linked it to my old database so maybe that's causing issues.

Re: Flash buttons don't work in...

Maybe you had some odd stuff cached that finally expired? Or maybe you emptied your flash LSOs and things then reset properly.
