Not really a contrib, a way of doing cross reference
Howdy folks! We're coming to the end of a blackout period, a non-competitive agreement and we can offer one of our Zen-bends to people now.
One of our customers had a challenge, they have parts that can fit many different machines from many different manufacturers in very much a similar way to the auto parts industry. Obtaining a cross-reference database for this type of thing is a nightmare, but if the organization has the in-house expertise, they can develop and even market their own cross-reference database.
So what we got is a Zen-bend that allows users to upload things in XLS format, and part of it is a machine table and part of it is a part table and part of it is the cross-reference and we got a function that builds the product descriptions in an SEO friendly format and pretty much takes care of the catalog, and in this case the catalog is well over 3,000 items.
So I guess we'd call it a dependent-dropdown or drill down thing where you can pick the manufacturer and it comes up with a list of all the OEM and aftermarket parts relevant to that machine. We could adapt this software for auto parts, marine parts, any kind of engine parts, anyplace where one thing can fit into lots of places. And we like challenges. (edited) so this really doesn't make for a good contrib, it's more of a process. It has to do with people producing spreadsheets and stuff.
