Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

At which step in following that tutorial do things suddenly stop working for you?
Sorry if you need to start over to find out.

Re: Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

Did the site work when you did the new fresh install?

You should have a fresh, working zen cart. Then you add all your old files to your server (do not upload or overwrite includes/configure.php or admin/includes/configure.php).

Then go into phpMyAdmin, drop all the tables inside the new database and import your old SQL.

That should be it.

Then follow the tutorial on how to change the admin location if you forget the steps.

Re: Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

Obviously index.php still wants to run Zen Cart Install steps all over again and FixCacheKey still draws blank screen indefinitely.

The fact that I have an /admin1 and an /admin folder on the new server, this /admin1 has no configure.php only _configure.php, and this /admin1 was copied over as the dominant one things refer to because its the active one in the old site, (which didnt any longer have an /admin), could this be causing FixCacheKey not to work?

Is FixCacheKey's failure to work the reason the site's main index.php tries to run zen cart install steps and setup another database instead of looking like the old site did ?

After I originally ran the zen cart install stuff, I was left with a basic install of zen cart, then after I finally figured out how to drop the new tables so the old ones would import, the site's main index.php started wanting to install again instead of looking like the default already-set-up-site.

I am losing over $200 to say the least right now, anyone know any good service who will just copy my old site from one cpanel to another on the same server, so I can switch domains and 301 my old one ? I paid $50 to one company who just ran off, I put in a ticket for Godaddy's Expert Hands service but they are taking days just to response I dont even wanna know how slow they work.

Re: Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

Ok this version of the post better answers your two guys (who I thank so much) questions:

The step things first got strange- After I originally ran the zen cart install stuff, I was left with a basic install of zen cart, then after I finally figured out how to drop the new tables so the old ones would import, the site's main index.php started wanting to install again instead of looking like the default already-set-up-site.

So anyways I ran initial install and was left with a default install of Zen Cart.

Then I ftp download/uploaded the old site in it's entirety except the two configure.php files. (but somehow in the process the new /admin1 folder ended up with _configure.php and no configure.php file, and I am not sure if I made the new install refer to /admin1 yet or where I would do that and go to make the new install look to /admin1 instead of it's /admin folder)

Then I messed with unsuccessfully importing the old export of tables until finally I figured out how to drop the new ones and empty them, then the old ones imported without error finally, after about 50 attempts to import them with error.

So here I am: Obviously now index.php still wants to run Zen Cart Install steps all over again and FixCacheKey still draws blank screen indefinitely.

I am losing over $250/day off the site to say the least right now, I cant afford to, so I will continue to appreciate and wait for your posts!

Re: Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

I'd just try doing it over again. You may have messed something up without realizing it.

Step 1: Install the SAME version of zen-cart as your old Zen Cart install. Ex. if your old site was 1.3.8, install 1.3.8 - not any other version.

Step 2: Upload all of the old files, except for includes/configure.php and admin1/includes/configure.php (or _configure.php as it somehow got changed to.) Make sure that the files in admin1 simply go to the new folder admin.

Step 3: View the Zen Cart table in phpMyAdmin, and drop everything inside.

Step 4: Import the old SQL file.

Your store should be up and running fine now. Then you can go ahead and do the Fix_Cache_Key http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&cPath=40_54&products_id=82
and rename admin folder https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=33

Re: Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

Thanks =D This is encouraging. Hey can random stuff in an .htaccess file that gets copied over and overwritten, regarding an old domain and not the domain of the new server I am copying to mess things up ?

Yes, but it wouldn't cause the install page error you were describing.

Re-do the move and replace instances of your old domain with your new domain in the .htaccess.

This was a huge success, you guys are 100% on, and I thank all who contributed for your posts addressing all necessary operations in concise and perfect simple steps, leaving nothing out. And for sticking with me through my initial misunderstanding. I guess that brings this thread to an end.

Re: Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

One small sticking point I could have only learned here I didnt know /admin1 files went into /admin at first. But I think he just worded it better and brought together alot of points all in a few sentances in a way that made more sense to me.
