My Index page does not render correctly in IE8

Here is the link

https://www.gunsgrubandgold.com/store/

I'm not sure if this is a computer specific issue, or what, but the page renders perfect in FF, and the video loads immediately. On the same computer I try loading the page in IE8 and the page loads CORRECTLY but the video does NOT and the green load bar at the bottom goes on forever...

Now on a totally different computer (has IE8 only) the header image is cut in half (right through the center of he logo image - center of header image). The video also does NOT load!!!!!

Could someone please check to see if this is a computer issue (what seettings would need to be changed), or an IE8 issue, or template issue???? I contacted the developer and they said that they cross browser checked everything and it worked ok for them. Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: My Index page does not render correctly in IE8

I am using IE8 on win XP - I am getting a security error because your link from the home page to the store is HTTPS and part of your images or content is not secure - that could be the problem.

I get that sometimes on my forum, how do you fix that? I also unchecked the "Display all websites in compatibilty view", and the header now shows but the video still does not load in IE8. First off, I doubt most users will physically uncheck that option in the browser Tools section, so how do you get the header to automatically render correctly? Still wondering about the video... God, I hate IE went round and round with IE issues on my forum, and finally got it squared away, now it seems I have to deal with the issues on Zencart!!!!

Thanks again!

I checked the page source and the developer used http on some of my logo links which should all be https, HOWEVER, some several other links, jsscript links, etc. are http, so I really doubt changing my links to https would make a difference. Did I mention I hate IE???

Re: My Index page does not render correctly in IE8

It may be due to the flash player version on this POS machine.

http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/forums/jw-player/bug-reports/12284/jw-player-html5-and-ie8

Great, glad it is all working! Also, Flash Before a specific version of 9 (9,0,54 I believe) will not support H.264, so you will need at least that version for it to work.

My question is, do most still run this older versions on their machines, or do I have nothing to worry about as far as clientele? Did I mention I hate IE8???

Re: My Index page does not render correctly in IE8

OK, got the flash thing going and it works. I have one more question.

If anyone could PLEASE answer this: I noticed that when I put

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=9" />

I don't seem to get the compatability issues. However, I also see this code in the header:

<!--[if IE 6]><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="includes/templates/guns/css/ie6.css" /><![endif]--> <!--[if IE 7]><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="includes/templates/guns/css/ie7.css" /><![endif]-->

Is the first code going to conflict with the if statements below? Thoughts? Seems to run fine in IE8 and FF. Thanks!

Thanks. I think the reason it is asking is because of a couple of script libraries that reference outside non https sources. Does anyone see an issue with this?

Revisted..same problem even though looking at coding you have altered http to https.Personally, i would give up waiting and move on to a site that shows me immediately what am
looking to purchase.

Are you talking about the page loading or the video? I know the video is a 7meg video (mp4). Can you suggest a different format for the video? I may go back to the slide show that the developer originally had, which was sort of like the video, minus music, etc. Thoughts? Curious as to why flash vids seem to load so fast on other sites? Perhaps someone can offer some feedback on that. Thanks again for your help.

DrByte:

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=150

I was reading that earlier, but how do I get around these items in the header????

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "**http**://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="**http**://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr" lang="en"> <script type="text/javascript" src="**http**://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js"></script>

Finally, after looking at the page source several of the href's to Contact, Store Info, etc have http (when it should be https) are these links changeable in the Admin section or do I have to go into the php files to change the href's??? Thanks again!

These links are not hard coded into the template. There are all relative paths used, no absolute paths. Have you enabled ssl correctly in the zen cart configure files?

Thanks,

Anne

I believe so. In fact, this was in regards to a template that was just created by picaflor-azul. So how do I change these, and links like the facebook, twitter, links, etc. are those links changed by opening up the php file or can it be done in the admin? Thanks again!

Again, unless they're src= params, they don't need to be changed.

Re: My Index page does not render correctly in IE8

You'll have to edit the template file.
Or contact the author for help.

Those are fine, since they're not src= parameters. That one will be a problem.

Again, unless they're src= params, they don't need to be changed.

Now, can the google script http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js be downloaded to the server and then run from the server with a src of file path to my server instead of http://ajax?
