adding animated .gifs to a product page, with or without image handler 2

I have image handler 2 and I cannot figure out how to add animated .gifs to my product pages. my image handler is uploading them and naming them the same name as one of my static .jpegs. the animated .gif is not showing at the bottom of my product page at all.

How can I use an animated .gif either as the main deafult thumb?
or as one of my additional images at the bottom of my individual products page? please help!!

IH is a very detailed and complex system, and this is probably not the place to start discussing how it could be edited to accommodate your needs. However, having said that, a team recently did a major re-work of IH and we now have IH3, so perhaps one of them will stumble on this thread and advise.

I would suggest you just embed the gif in your product description text for now. <img src="PATH-TO-YOUR-GIF">
