My GoDaddy bulk mail won't work automatically but if I send one by one it's all fine.

Long time no see,
I was busy designing two cheap planes that can legaly be driven as cars, to compete the expensive Terafugia Transition.

And once I have put them up, I tried to reach my clients with a bulk mail to inform them of this opportunity (less than 400 clients)

I got this as an answer after 2 minutes of "processing" status:
http://mindyourbusines.com/%28undisclosed%29/mail.php?action=send_email_to_user
"Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache Server at mindyourbusines.com Port 80"
:censored:

I sent all the mails manually from the zencart and it went OK (time in between two mails some 2 minutes)

My e-mail address is: [email protected], and I noticed Libero.it tends to hinder me when sending to much mail at once, thus I ask around:

is the Zencart hosted on Godaddy servers in US using my Libero.it email servers in Italy to send the mails, or they have nothing to do?

In the first case the limitaiton is the old one I already encountered, and two more questions arise;
one: how can I reconfigure Zencart to send my e-mails with a 2 minutes interval in between.
Two, how can I configure Zencart to send them from another place?

In the second case the only question I have in mind is: what the heck is happening? is it Zencart or Godaddy that fails me?

Passing through the tutorials I found nothing related, nor in FAQ neither in the formums, so I tend to think I am a one time issue.

Due dilligence here:

My zencart is (You are presently using: v1.3.9e) on a linux server of Godaddy.

Is there anybody elese that encountered such a problem or has an idea of how to solve it?

Thank you for your time, mine is precious, so I believe your is too, thus, Thank you again.

Since that error occurred when using your Zen Cart admin, and you said your site is hosted on a GoDaddy server, then the server logs which you need to view are your GoDaddy server logs. Good luck getting their tech support people to find the exact error message when that 500 Error appeared. They're the only people who can give you that answer.

If you configured your Zen Cart to send through GoDaddy servers, then that's what it's doing. If you configured it to use Libero.it servers, then that's what it's doing.

Re: My GoDaddy bulk mail won't work automatically but if I send one by one it's all fine.

Here are my settings, stil trying to understand what am i doing... lol

E-Mail Transport Method

PHP (I am on this one)
sendmail
sendmail-f
smtp
smtpauth
Qmail

E-Mail Linefeeds

LF (I am on tis one)
CRLF

Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails

true
false (I use this one)

Send E-Mails

false

E-Mail Friendly-Errors

true (I use this one)
false

Email Address (Displayed to Contact you) [email protected]
Email Address (sent FROM) [email protected]

Emails must send from known domain?

No
Yes (I use this one)

Email Admin Format?
TEXT(I use this one)
HTML

x
x

Contact Us - Show Store Name and Address
Include Store Name and Address
0= off 1= on

0
1 (I use this one)

SMTP Email Account Mailbox
Enter the mailbox account name ([email protected]) supplied by your host. This is the account name that your host requires for SMTP authentication.
Only required if using SMTP Authentication for email.
[email protected] (I have this from very beginign, never received one mail in there, and is provided by GODADDY)

SMTP Email Mail Host
Enter the DNS name of your SMTP mail server.
ie: mail.mydomain.com
or 55.66.77.88
Only required if using SMTP Authentication for email.
mail.mindyourbusines.com (since the first day)

As I guess my problem might be in Godaddy, most probably my e-mails do not use the Libero.it servers since the password required is for godadddy, they just pretend to go from libero.it.

Can you confirm this?

Talk to GoDaddy. They're having some server problems lately, especially related to email.

Re: My GoDaddy bulk mail won't work automatically but if I send one by one it's all fine.

Godaddy says:

Number of Addresses — Web-Based Email does not limit the total number of messages you can send per day; however, there is a limit of 100 addresses on a single email message. The 100 addresses may be included in any combination of the To, CC, and BCC fields. If there are more than 100 total addresses, the Compose window shows an error and the message is not sent.
You must revise the recipient list and then resend your message.

Conclusion: I need to split my messages in bunches of 99 how can this be done?

Do I have to split the database in smaller bunches and how?

Or can I instruct the mail sender to send bunches of 99 somehow?

Somebody that rally kn ow what he is doing could write me the few lines to wake me up on this one?

Re: My GoDaddy bulk mail won't work automatically but if I send one by one it's all fine.

Wrong conclusion.
Zen Cart emailing sends separate emails, one-at-a-time. It doesn't mix multiple recipients into one message.

Re: My GoDaddy bulk mail won't work automatically but if I send one by one it's all fine.

Ok Sensei!

Mate', Mate'!

it makes sense, but not to me.

If Zencart sends the e-mails one by one why is the whole thing stop after about one hundred?

It reaches the J letter at least and than get's blocked (I asked folks to confirm the reception, and some did, but after J they all said when I asked them on other canals of communication that nothing arrived to them)

So the ultimate thing I can think of is to instruct the Zencart e-mail script to send them at a distance of "X" seconds, and by trial and error to find the minimum time lapse at which this problem disappears. How can I do that?
Is there any other option to try before?

Now is your turn to ground me Sensei,

Hajime'!

Re: My GoDaddy bulk mail won't work automatically but if I send one by one it's all fine.

There is no built-in throttling service to prevent Zen Cart from sending all emails immediately when you start sending bulk messages.

You could experiment with some addons. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Or you could export your email addresses to a service like MailChimp or Constant Contact and have them do your mailings for you. This is a much preferred approach since their services are designed for bulk emailing, and are less likely to get your own website blacklisted mistakenly for sending too many emails or unwanted emails. And, since they handle all the delivery on their servers, that takes all that load away from your servers, and completely escapes the problem you're reporting now.
