steps on entering database info

during installation where it asks to enter database info I'm confused. Its asking databse userame, password, and database name. But none of the previous installation steps told us to create a database so how are we suppose to have that info? Are we suppose to manually create them under MYSQL Databases?

I'm doubly confused. How many Zen Cart sites have you already set up and posted here about? This seems like a very odd question coming from someone already running Zen Cart sites.

Zen Cart can't create a database for you.
You need to do that yourself in conjunction with your hosting company or the tools they provide to you. If you need help using their tools, they can help you with that. We can't give you a magical authoritative list of all the different tools that various hosting companies might choose to offer. They'll probably have some sort of online documentation on how to use their tools. Or log a ticket with them for help.

thanks dr byte. i've only created one site before. i'll go ahead and create the db. i can go back to 1.3.8 site and seee how it was done.

Zen Cart can't create a database for you. Not even version 1.3.8.

Have you read the implementation guide?

It wasn't included in the 07-28 zip, by mistake, but is now in the most recent zip and is linked to on the release page.

This explains the need to create a database before starting installation.

thank you for reply. it was either 1.3.8 or 1.3.8a where i installed zc via Simple Scripts and the db & username was was created for me. I don't know if it was zen or simple scripts that did it.

where is this implementation guide? the only thing i read so far is
1.readme_installation.html. thanks
