How to change PayPal IPN to PayPal Express?

Hi,

I am currently using v1.3.9e. I want to change PayPal IPN to PayPal Express but have a few questions:

1. Should I upgrade to v1.3.9h first, then turn off PayPal IPN, then install PayPal Express?
2. Can I use both PayPal IPN and PayPal Express on my site?

Express will do it all without the hassle.

Thanks for your quick reply. There are quite a lot of traffic at the moment. If I turn off PayPal IPN and take a while to setup PayPal Express, I might miss out on sales.

Where did you see any recommendation to turn off a working site?:blink:
An upgrade should ALWAYS be done in a separate directory, and not made live until it works.
Following the tutorials for upgrade never hurt either.:P

I am talking about keeping the PayPal IPN turned on while I install PayPal Express so that people can still checkout using PayPal IPN. Is that possible?

You could, but my recommendation was to upgrade first. It's a small upgrade, but necessary as many changes were made to PayPal files between yours and 1.3.9h.

You should do your upgrade first.
Go to 1.3.9f, then 1.3.9g, then 1.3.9h.

And, yes, you must turn off IPN before you can turn on EC.

And, if you have customers actively shopping on your site, you should not be applying ANY of these steps during that time ... neither upgrading nor switching payment module settings. You can do all your preparation work ahead of time, but should ALWAYS pick a time when the store is idle before applying any updates to it.
