Items show when turned off

I have v1.3.9h and BareBones template.

I have two problems. I do not know if it is the template or that I perhaps miss something.

Item has 'Weight: 0lbs' but I turned off in Admin/Configuration/Product Listing/Display Product Weight. i set it to 0. Does 0 mean it is off or that weight is 0. How do I make it not show the weight?

When item is out of stock, I do not want it to show. In Admin/Configuration/Stock/Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to, I change this to 0 and also 1 but there is no difference. How do I make the item not show?

1. It means the weight is zero, not the product is turned off. Check Admin - Catalog - Product Types - Edit Layout.

2. That's the right setting, but Zencart requires that the last copy of the product goes through the checkout process. Turning the quantity in admin to zero won't turn the product off.

2. How can I have an item in the database but not show? For instance, this is a new database and there are items my client will put in the database that I do not know how they will go. Some items have already sold through a previous shopping cart (not zencart) but will go into the database. perhaps they will only show as a "gallery" of previous item or perhaps will become for sale again. I do not know the answer but I do not want the item to show.

How do you take items off sale?

You can turn products off manually by clicking the green Status button so it turns to red.

Of course, silly me. I spend so much time looking for how to change things, I forget the simple things like turning off the switch. :blush:
