Editing "Sales Message Here" - why can't I see my changes?

I have gone to your tutorial on how to edit this text. I edit header.php and change the text and save it back to the server to the correct direcotory but it still has the default text. I've checked the FAQs and don't see the right answer.

Most often, the permissions on that folder/file don't allow you to save the edited file to the server.

Then how can I change it? Do I need to change the permissions on that directory?

What's curious is that the header.php file I download and edit doesn't say "Sales Message Here" but rather something like "Default header text".

Also, can you please tell me where you turn off the box that says "Sponsors" as well as the "Have you seen" - an ad for ZenCart?

I was editing the wrong header.php. The one you have to edit is in includes/languages/english/classic/header.php.
