Store offline after 139h upgrade - No cart in PayPal Express

Hello chaps

I've been running 139f with PayPal Express for a long time now without any problem.

Today I upgraded to 139h and now the PayPal page shows nothing in the cart.

Afer reading some threads, I checked whether this was due to the non-tax amounts having more than 2 digits after the decimal point. Most, if not all, of the products are like this because the value is calculated down from the displayed price, which includes tax.

I tested with a fake product and found that it works when there are only 2 digits.

I have also found that this problem does not happen with a registered account on the store site. It only happens when purchases are made without registering an account first.

This worked perfectly fine previously and is only broken with the 139h upgrade.

My store is now disabled because of this problem.

Is this fixable or do I have to restore back to 139f?

Thanks for any advice on this.
Regards
Rob

How exactly did you do that upgrade?
What happens if you set the EC Shortcut Button to off in your ZC EC settings?

Re: Store offline after 139h upgrade - No cart in PayPal Express

Thanks for the reply,

I tried it both ways after seeing that button mentioned in one or two of the other threads with this issue. I had previously already hidden that button in my template, but only through CSS, not in the code.

I also tried switching to the classic template in case there was anything related to that.

I got the same result in both cases.

During the upgrade I also did all the other required upgrade steps like removing and then adding the payment and shipping modules. I've upgraded the cart several times previously.

The mods I run are OZPost, Image Handler 2, Direct Bank Deposit, Credit Card Sidebox, Google Analytics and SiteMap XML. I don't think any of these will affect this problem.

I'm going to have to revert to backup in the next couple of hours regardless. But if there's anything I should do beforehand, please let me know.

Thanks heaps
Rob

DrByte:

How exactly did you do that upgrade?

I have the steps recorded in a document so that I dont' miss anything each time.

Basically I...

  • back everything up,
  • take screenshots of all payment and shipping settings,
  • remove payment and shipping modules,
  • rename my admin folder back to admin,
  • use winmerge to file-compare the original version with the live version and note any changed files,
  • use winmerge to compare teh original version with the new version to check for files I need to alter afterwards,
  • turn off the site in IIS,
  • make the config files writeable,
  • copy the new version over the live site,
  • restart the site in IIS,
  • run the installer,
  • go through the installer - no problems encountered,
  • check the site works,
  • rename my admin folder,
  • make config files read-only,
  • delete the zc-install folder,
  • test the site - fails to show cart in PayPal Express,

Then I removed and added the payment module again, and then carried out the tests and research resulting in this forum post.

It seemed to go smoothly as it always does, apart from the PayPal Express issue.

Regards
Rob

Re: Store offline after 139h upgrade - No cart in PayPal Express

Sorry to hear you're having problems with your specific site's configuration. Most likely an issue with your prices which are longer than 2 decimal places.

I would encourage you to do a test with it on the upcoming v1.5.0 (now in public BETA), where numerous significant improvements were made to handle stores whose prices don't operate in just 2 decimal places.

Re: Store offline after 139h upgrade - No cart in PayPal Express

Thanks for the reply,

It's clearly a flaw in 139h. I'm now back on 139f and everything's fine again.. even with the 4 decimal places that the product entry form likes to generate.

Personally I'd put a warning on the 139h release about this issue as it's a bit of a show-stopper for anyone using PayPal Express and displaying prices with tax included, which is everyone here downunder as it's illegal to do otherwise.

I'll make an effort to do some testing of the new beta as well before release. Great to see new releases coming!
