meta tags for the main page

Hi,

I've edited meta tags for the categories and sub categories pages through admin -> catalog -> category/product

may I know how to do it for the main page

You need to edit the meta_tags.php file located in includes/languages/english. Save the edited file in your overrides folder which would be includes/languages/english/your template.
