won't display category images on home page

Hi

I hope someone can help.
I'm using Version 1.3.9

New install and i am modifying the template by adjusting the style sheets.I have the grid column layout installed.

I am trying to display category images on the home page. I set the following:

Categories - Always Show on Main Page = 1
Main Page - Opens with Category = 0
Nothing was displayed.

After being unable to get this to work i tried installing the categories centre box module.
I set the following and still nothing is displayed.

Categories - Always Show on Main Page = 1
Main Page - Opens with Category = blank (and tried 0)
Front-page Categories Columns Per Row

I'm new at this and i'm not sure what to try next.

Any advise would be great.

And if you turn off the SEO/rewrites? :unsure:

i've gone to SEO URLs but i'm not sure what i need to alter

I don't know as I do not use them ... usually there is a switch in the Configuration for the SEO to turn it off ...

I don't know how to do this and have not knowingly touched these.

SEO/rewrites are usually from an add on ...

If you look in the Configuration menu of your Admin, you should see a menu choice for SEO ... see if there is a switch to turn it off ...

I have the option to Enable SEO URLs, i have turned this off and there are still no images.

Could you check the settings in the Configuration ... Product Listing ... and see what you have for:

Include Product Listing Top Categories Image
Do you want to include the Top Categories Image on the Product Listing?

and the setting for:

Include Product Listing Sub Categories Image
Do you want to include the Sub Categories Image on the Product Listing?

Include Product Listing Top Categories Image = True

Include Product Listing Sub Categories Image = False

And if you turn on the Subcategories to show the Categories image?

If it does not turn on, can you switch to the Classic Template to rule out that your templates and overrides have blocked or are missing the code for this?

I turned on Subcategories to show the Categories image ans it's still the same. I switched to the classic template and they are displayed.

Can't we start charging cups of coffee for the devs to fix the :censored: Template Monster templates?

You will probably need to use winmerge or something like it to find out what TM has changed from real ZC files. Only you have access to your site to do that.

That says it is your templates and overrides ...

Go to your Zen Cart Admin and in the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... do a search, in the bottom input box for:
category_row.php

and select Catalog from the dropdown and click SEARCH ...

What comes up?

The default files should show:

/includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_index_categories.php

Line #6 : * Uses tpl_index_category_row.php to render individual items

If you have template and override files for these two default files you should also see those require statements ...

Do you see them in there? If so, are they commented out?

If not, then the code is missing so the display does not happen ...

This is what i get, the tpl_modules_category_row.php was displayed but on a different line so i restored the original.
Still the same.

Does your template have the file:
/includes/templates/your_template_dir/templates/tpl_index_categories.php

If you compare that to the original file:
/includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_index_categories.php

Do you notice your file missing some code?

For File comparisons, something like Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com is very helpful ...
