How can I insert a PAGE BREAK into a page ??

I want to insert a page break into a page as its content is too long for one page according to some SEO advice I have. It is actually 18,000 plus words and I want to break it into about 10 pages.

I can easily do this in my CMS with a widget but when the html for the document is copied into Zen everything is fine except the page breaks are shown purely as text [page_break] and have no effect (so the page is one single page 14 miles long which the Googlebot will not read).

I just need a code for page breaks that gives the number of pages and the arrows on the top of each page thus 2 3 4 >> next.

Looking forward to some assistance.

thanks,
Mike

You might just have to add all the pages manually as ez-pages and manually make the pagination.

Thanks for your comment however with over 300 articles at an average of 2 to a page it would mean upwards of 150 individual pages which will be a navigational nightmare for customers. On a current (non Zen) site I have these articles in categories of about 20 to 40 articles per category for easy selection and navigation by visitors.

There must be a simple solution - even this forum and the FAQ's pages on the Zen site have breaks then the < 2 3 4 5 >> page selection links on the pages.:frusty:

cheers,
Mike

How are you organizing your information? Are you using "document general"?

As afo suggests, the easiest way to get the functionality you want would be to make the articles products rather than ez-pages or define pages, using the "document-general" product type. Each long article can be a subcategory with the pages individual "products" in it. This will automatically get the prev/next number links on the pages. You can then organize the article subcats into as many "chapter" categories as you want. They will be displayed in the document-categories sidebox.

over 300 articles at an average of 2 to a pageIf you are saying that most of the individual articles are short (not needing page breaks inside them), you could easily use ez-pages with one article to a page, and chapters set so that related articles are in one chapter which is headed by a main article/page. Only these main pages would be set to appear in the side or header menu; when the topic is clicked, there would be a table of contents with links for each page in the chapter. (Not exactly a prev/next, but each title would be shown in order, and you can make the current page distinct.)

Between yourself and AFO it seems that this is the answer so I will give it a try later today and see how it goes - I will let you know the result.

Many thanks,
Mike

Re: How can I insert a PAGE BREAK into a page ??

I'm in the process of changing it over to another CMS program, but right now, my nephew's site is Zen Cart as CMS and the information is a mix of document general and EZ pages. The link is in my sig.
