Products loaded through PHPMYADMIN

Hi I have a site where I've converted a feed so it loads directly into the zen database through phpmyadmin. Only thing is for some reason the product description information isn't showing in the admin which means obviously I can't edit it unless I go through PHPMYADMIN.

I can see the list of products in the admin, it is just on the product description part of the admin where you add product name, price, weight, qty etc

How would I get all the information to show in the admin? I have everything stored in the correct fields through the database.

Re: Products loaded through PHPMYADMIN

Can you see the product descriptions via phpMyAdmin?

Bear in mind that product DESCRIPTIONS are stored in a different table from other product data.

My guess is that your "feed" is writing data only to the products table, and is skipping the products_description table.

Have you seen:

Re: Products loaded through PHPMYADMIN

All the products are showing up on the site and the descriptions are in PHPMYADMIN along with other info in the products_description table but just not showing up in the admin which is strange as I have them formatted exact.

Do you think its a cache problem?

Re: Products loaded through PHPMYADMIN

Have you populated products_to_categories as well?

As I understand.. if your just importing products with one language you'll need to update products, products_description and products_to_categories.

If I remember correctly products_to_categories can have multiple entries for each item as this is how linked products work. But I think by default they need a line in there anyway in order for zen cart to work properly.

Re: Products loaded through PHPMYADMIN

Hi I've asked this before but didn't get a good answer.

I've loaded around 15000 products into the zen cart database through PHPMYADMIN however even though I can edit these throught the database I can't edit them through the admin as the product description information isn't showing. I can see the listings of products through the admin but when I click on a product to change the information on each individual product they are blank.

Anybody else had this issue?

Thanks

Nick

Re: Products loaded through PHPMYADMIN

Check that all products have a:
products_type
master_categories_id
products_price_sorter

Check that you are not having an issue with your php as stated on post #6 of:

Do you use Linked Products?

Re: Products loaded through PHPMYADMIN

To be honest I think it was a cache problem. It was strange as I'd refreshed my browser several times, restarted my browser, even restarted my computer but the problem still occurred.

However I went back to it the following day and they were all showing up correctly. So I'm unsure but I think it might have been the database rather than the admin. I can't really tell you other than that.

Thanks Linda

Re: Products loaded through PHPMYADMIN

yeah did all that and knew I had to update the tables you mentioned as well, have resolved it now though. Seems to have been some sort of caching issue as I went back to it the following day and they were all there.

Thanks for your help though, greatly appreciated.

Are these your symptoms? http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?p=953964#post953964

Note: Your duplicate threads on the identical topic have been merged. Please don't start the same discussion in multiple places ... 90% of people who do that never post closure to those threads, and usually just come in with guns loaded and splatter their desperation for help all over the place, and it looks like spam. Yours may not have had that intention, but unfortunately the behavior looks the same. I'm sure that wasn't your intention, and you probably don't want to come across like that ... so don't follow the pattern.
