2 cosmetic changes--help--logo and main page

I have a client that would like to remove the link to the header. For the life of me this and the next item are driving me up the wall cause I think I have searched everywhere and missed the how to end.

How do I get rid of the store link from the header logo image?

In admin/configuration/layout settings/Main Page - Opens with Category

we set it to the category it should open too but there is nothing but the header--sideboxes and menu showing

what did I miss? we removed the information that was showing in the define_main_page file---turned off the setting for that define page in its settings, hence the blank but it does not open to the category,

but is the hyper link attached to the logo banner able to be removed?

Removing the hyperlink in tpl_header.php has worked for me.
Don't know if the that is the correct way or not

ok removing the link code did not work so what I did was just replace the first part with the img tag and that worked...thanks
