Attributes showing up on product detail

How can I turn off attributes (color, special options, features) from showing up in my product detail by default?

IF you WANT a product to have attributes, then you'll need to leave them active.

If you don't want a product to have attributes, then call up that product in ATTRIBUTES CONTROLLER, and delete them.

That's what I've been doing but I didn't want it in the first place. Is there no option to proactively disable it before hand instead of re-actively deleting it afterwards?

I am not sure what your issue is entirely... but if a product HAS attributes, then they were ADDED to the product by somebody - either by an individual product edit, or by one of the "copy" features available in Attributes Controller.

The system does not have a secret little elf inside who mysteriously adds attributes to products. A real live person has to do this.... and the procedure is a MANUAL one...

So the procedure to REMOVE (delete) attributes is also a manual one.

I must have inadvertently added it because I just added a dummy product and attributes are not attached to it.

Well, there must be an elf in there somewhere! The first test product (with no details) that I added had no attributes. But I figured I try adding a different product just to check my sanity and the attribute showed up after clicking the product insert button (Attribute Features button became light blue instead of black).

By the way, can you tell me how to link a product to multiple categories? I can see the legend "Linked Products" in yellow at the top of the page but I can't figure out how to do the actual link.

I guess I should not take words literally! I saw the "copy" but I read somewhere that you would be creating a duplicate copy when "copy" is used. As I didn't want to create a duplicate copy, I didn't bother clicking on it!
