Buttons and affiliates code for external sales pages

Hi, everyone,

I am new and still setting up my ZC. :blink:
However, there are two BIG questions that got me stuck and I'll appreciate any help I can get. :cry:

I'm techie enough for a regular person, but not a developer, so please spell it out in simple terms, and thanks beforehand.:wink:

But I have not set up any products yet.

Q1: Using product buttons in external pages

It's taking me a lot of time to set up the cart, so I'm setting up some buttons to keep selling my most popular products at my website (not a store).

I tried setting PayPal buttons directly, but they are not working. I'm still going back and forth with PP as to why not. Buy Now buttons have worked before for me in that same website. Could it be that my IPN integration between ZC and PayPal is interfering with their buttons?:dontgetit

Is there an easy way to set up a product in my ZC store and copy the code to those old sales pages so that they can be used and lead to the ZC to finish transaction?

Q2: Affiliate integration between ZC and Jrox affiliate with codes in external sales pages.

My plan is, and here we go to Q2, to integrate my ZC store with Jam/Jrox Affiliate system (which I'm also setting up) for use **both **in the cart and the external sales pages. Therefore, I need to find a way in which I can:

1. use the product button code in the sales pages at my website (out of my ZC store), so people can purchase from the sales pages. These Sales Pages already have lots of links from our catalog and publicity, so I need to update them with the ZC and new affiliate links.

2. That each affiliate code can somehow be tracked to the sale pages. If necessary I can do a different page for each affiliate, but I need to integrate the external sales pages and sales process with Zen Cart and the Jrox affiliate system.

I hope that I am explaining this clearly enough for you great guys to understand!!:wacko:

Let me give an example.
[LIST=1]

1. I have product ABC in my ZC store, (hopefully) linked to the ABC affiliate program in Jrox affiliate system.

2. I have the existing Sales Pages in my website already linked to a zillion places.

3. So I copy some code (hopefully) that allows me to place the ZC buy now button for that product, along with the options, etc. onto the existing Sales Pages.

4. And I also copy some code (hopefully) that allows the tracking for my Jrox affiliates.

5. The client referred by Affiliate ABC-1 reads the existing sales page at my website (not the store), clicks on the button and continues on to my ZC store registration page while the sale is tracked to Affiliate ABC-1.

6. Also, I don't understand Eazy pages and want to know if I can copy the HTML from my existing Sales Page (I use FrontPage) and create a full sales page inside the ZC store for a product. Some of my sales pages have different pages, so they are a set of pages about a products, so this gets more complicated. Ouch!:eek:

Remember, I'm not a developer, just a daring regular person that simply NEEDS to do it on her own. So be gentle with me!!:hug:

Could it be that my IPN integration between ZC and PayPal is interfering with their buttons?no. Besides, you should use PayPal express checkout in your store instead of IPN anyway.
Zen Cart does not create problems with using your same PayPal account on other sites.

And you'll never be using PayPal "buttons" in your Zen Cart pages/content.

On the question of JROX JAM... these questions are best put on their forum, or directed to their support.

You CAN put hyperlinks from your "old" site to your new ZC store on a product-by-product basis...

... but it will be a MANUAL exercise.

1. Create the product(s) in your zencart store, then, in the shop view, click on a product. Then look in the browser address bar.

You will see something similar to:

http://shamansdance.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=23_65&products_id=389

That is the specific URL to that product.

2. Then, in your OLD shop, use that in a hyperlink

To be honest... it would be easier to just send the visitors to your old site to the url of the new site.

Schoolboy, Thanks for taking time to read everything. The reason I need the old pages is that they are longer, more complex sales pages targeted for launches, with multi-page lay out and JVPs that send their clients directly to that page, and it's lay out for that purpose. The product descriptions in the shop are shorter, geared for shoppers.

I'd like to do what you say, but through a "buy" button that directs the visitor to the purchase page of the product, not the description page. In other words, once the visitor reads the external sales page, they click on a buy button and end up on the purchase page of that product inside the cart.

Is there a way that I can get that URL?

Dr. Byte: I'm sorry that I did not explain clearly. I don't want the PP buttons on ZC! They are for my external pages. Yes, I hear you. I went to PP to check about express checkout, but I could not even follow what they were saying, so I'm not attempting to use it. There were some other technical reasons for which I decided against it at the moment. (When I can afford a webmaster, I'll have them do it.:wink:

Thanks for letting me now that the ZC was not the problem. Sure enough, I figured out what it was and it was something pretty silly.
