Temporary index page

I want to create a temporary index.htm page that has my sites theme, header and footer and main body text. I want to use this as my index page until my site goes live.

I thought I could do this by creating an EZ Page so I did. now I cant find that stupid page. Where does ZC store them?

Re: Temporary index page

EZ pages are stored in the database, so you can't use them for the purpose described (SEE NOTE BELOW).

Best to use an EXTERNAL HTML Editor.

Then, just call it index.html and load it to yoru server.

Your server is NOT NECESSARILY configured to favor **index.html **over index.php.

Try it and see...

NOTE: you "can use" the internal editor to create the raw HTML for your page, but it will NOT have a HTML header. You will need to create this section.

Re: Temporary index page

Hmm. I guess I could copy my current home page and remove the code that calls the side boxes too?

Re: Temporary index page

If you don't want visitors to be able to click through to the site, you could just take a screen shot of your Zencart main page and use that image as your index page, editing the parts necessary.

Re: Temporary index page

When your webshop loads into a browser, the HTML is a RESULT of all the work that the PHP code has done in assembling the page.

You could copy the SOURCE CODE, of course, and you could then edit this down to "remove" functionality.

Possibly a far easier solution is to put your site into MAINTENANCE MODE.

In the admin panel, there is provision to put in specific IP addresses that OVER-RIDE maintenance mode.

Just put your IP address in, and while the PUBLIC can't see the site, YOU can.

Re: Temporary index page

I should have thought of that. You can then use any image you want on the maintenance page.
