Trouble with SSL and Dedicated Server

I have zencart v1.3.9

I have just recently upgraded to this version when i switched hosting companies. I rebuilt the site at the new hosting company, and then today I purchased a dedicated server and an SSL cert from them. I made changes these changes:

to my includes/configure:
define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.primitivekeepers.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.primitivekeepers.com');

// Use secure webserver for checkout procedure?
define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true');

to my admin/includes/configure:
define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.primitivekeepers.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.primitivekeepers.com');
define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.primitivekeepers.com');
define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://www.primitivekeepers.com');

// Use secure webserver for catalog module and/or admin areas?
define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'true');
define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'true');

now when i go to the site the webtopper, background, images are gone.
i am also unable to log into my zencart admin

any help or direction of help is appreciated, i am really new to this.

Please post the rest of your configure.php - without your Paswords and secret admin name.

We recommend using the "cache" folder inside the Zen Cart folder // ie: /path/to/your/webspace/public_html/zen/cache -- leave no trailing slash define('SQL_CACHE_METHOD', 'none'); define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/primiti7/public_html/pcache');

Try removing /~primiti7 from each of the above entries

Re: Trouble with SSL and Dedicated Server

ok when i look at the siurce code of your site i see this

<base href="http://www.primitivekeepers.com/~primiti7/" /> <link rel="canonical" href="http://www.primitivekeepers.com/~primiti7/" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="print" href="includes/templates/classic/css/print_stylesheet.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/~primiti7/includes/templates/classic/css/style_jscroller.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/~primiti7/includes/templates/classic/css/stylesheet.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/~primiti7/includes/templates/classic/css/stylesheet_css_buttons.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/~primiti7/includes/templates/classic/css/stylesheet_dotline.css" />

when i remove the ~primiti7/ the site works and all the images appear.

Are you sure this section of your configure it correct?

// NOTE: be sure to leave the trailing '/' at the end of these lines if you make changes!
// * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL)
// these paths are relative to top of your webspace ... (ie: under the public_html or httpdocs folder)
define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/~primiti7/secrect_admin_name/');
define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/~primiti7/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN', '/~primiti7/secrect_admin_name/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/~primiti7/');

What happens if you replace it with

// NOTE: be sure to leave the trailing '/' at the end of these lines if you make changes!
// * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL)
// these paths are relative to top of your webspace ... (ie: under the public_html or httpdocs folder)
define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/secrect_admin_name/');
define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN', '/secrect_admin_name/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');

Re: Trouble with SSL and Dedicated Server

PK_Lisa:

today I purchased a dedicated server and an SSL cert from them

Before rushing to fix the problems, be patient. The dedicated server/SSL will require a change in the IP address of your store.

Your host will have made these changes for you when they set up the new server, BUT it can take several hours before the new address gets propagated through through the network.

Things will be a little unstable until this process completes.

Cheers
Rod

ps. I also concur with the other response... primiti7/ is not a valid path in this instance. The "" expansion only works for shell commands. The webservers don''t know about home directories.

Re: Trouble with SSL and Dedicated Server

Awesome!!! That got me back into my admin. YAY!!

Now do you know how or point me in a direction on how I can go about getting the site back to looking the way it was before I bought the SSL cert. and dedicated server? My webtopper, background, and images are gone.

Re: Trouble with SSL and Dedicated Server

Check your other config - there is one in /includes and one in YOUR_ADMIN/includes/

Re: Trouble with SSL and Dedicated Server

Ok, I have another question now...... How do I go about getting the site directed to the "https" address instead of the "http"?

Re: Trouble with SSL and Dedicated Server

Your whole site? Why? Zen Cart is smart - it only uses the SSL when it is needed, i.e. for login and checkout.

Re: Trouble with SSL and Dedicated Server

Ohhhhh, I see now. I am new to this, and was thinking that the address had to say "https" in order for it to be workimg:/ Not realizing that when you click on, for instance "log in", it does it on its own. Thanks again
