SSL messes up page layout

Hello All!

Any help or ideas would help and much appreciated!

I am using bluehost as my host and using their SSL. I notice whenever I switch to secure (https), the page layout gets funky and top banner (menu image) is gone etc so does the rest of the page.

I don't think this is a template issue since it has the same problem when I switch back to the original template.

Any thoughts?

my site is futureonlinestore.com

try https://www.futureonlinestore.com (versus http://www.futureonlinestore.com ) and you'll see what i mean...

thanks!

Re: SSL messes up page layout

Do you happen to have "hotlink protection" turned on in your hosting account for some reason? That can often cause images to not show properly.

now i wonder if there's a better way to hotlink protect the images...hmm..i'm guessing just to watermark them?=(

Re: SSL messes up page layout

Hello,

I also have an issue with our website and even login into Zen Cart's back office after getting the SSL.

When going to our site https://www.CHRISAL.net every time when someone clicks on other link on the menus (especially in the Internet Explorer) there's a message that something is not secure and whether you wish to display it or not. Most people click YES, and if they do, then the layout changes and the pictures do not display.

...and I can't even log in to Zen Cart back office to do any edits, nor can I re-send the password to my email - it keeps redirecting me to the same login page, and it starts me with the blank user & password. Also, the following message shows up after I click Login or Send: "This form will be sent in a way that is not secure. Are you sure you want to send it?"

What do I do?? Please help. This is a disaster! :(

Thank you.

Masha

Re: SSL messes up page layout

All of those links are pointing to https when they should be pointing to http. You need to edit your configure.php files and correct the path:

includes/configure.php
your_admin_folder/includes/configure.php

The best way to learn is to try stuff. But, back it up first.

RE: All of those links are pointing to https when they should be pointing to http. You need to edit your configure.php files and correct the path:

includes/configure.php
your_admin_folder/includes/configure.php

Download two sets of those files, one to a folder named edit, the second to a folder named backup. Open up the copies in the edit folder with a plain text editor.

In the one from includes/ look for this section:

// Define the webserver and path parameters
// HTTP_SERVER is your Main webserver: eg-http://www.your_domain.com
// HTTPS_SERVER is your Secure webserver: eg-https://www.your_domain.com
define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.yoursite.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.yoursite.com');

Make sure the red highlighted doesn't have an s at the end of http.

In the one from your_admin_folder/includes, look for this section:

  • If you desire your entire admin to be SSL-protected, make sure you use a "https:" URL for all 4 of the following:
    */
    define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.yoursite.com');
    define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.yoursite.com');
    define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.yoursite.com');
    define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://www.yoursite.com');

Same for that section.

The best way to learn is to try stuff. But, back it up first.
