adding sub categories to categories

hi, im wanting to split up my categories into different sections like this shop http://www.partyrama.co.uk/mcp/Halloween.html

see how its got halloween party products & accessories and then categories and then further down its got halloween costumes and accessories and then the categories for them all on one page

Categories Dressing from Free Addons will let you do that, with "category groups" and group headings.

im not sure if you understand me i don`t mean the sideboxes i mean the actual categories in the center.

theres a title :40th Birthday party products

and then theres 45 categories

and then theres another split

that says costumes and costume accessoriess

and then theres more categories

I suspect you will get a lot more customers navigating by a sidebox with category groups than with a mile-long page of category pictures - the example is so busy that it becomes a blur of color - but I also developed a mostly unpublished mod three years ago to add headings for groups of subcategories in the category listing page. I have been working on it recently, extending its capabilities, and can post a beta version if you would like to test it.

How comfortable are you with PHP? The code is currently in a test file and bits need to be moved into a couple of other files for actual use (all the directions are written in the file). I can take some time tomorrow to organize them properly if you don't care to do it now.
