[newbie] What options for payments?

Hello

This is the very first time I'm setting up an e-commerce solution, so don't know the first thing about what options I have to let customers pay for their order.

AFAIU, customers can pay by...

  • check: I just need to provide a snail mail address where they can send their check
  • transfer: just provide my bank account's ID and customers can transfer money, which are usually free when done through the Net
  • credit card: This can either be done a purely Internet-based solution (PayPal, FastSpring, BrainTree, etc.) or by going to a brick and mortar bank where I'll open an account and have it registered with Visa/MC so that customers can pay with their credit card online

Is this correct?

As for the credit card solution: How can I tell which option is more interesting? What things should I check/watch for?

Thank you.

Payment "modules" can be activated in your admin console (modules >>> payment). The modules that are currently there are the STANDARD modules, but it is quite possible you will need to configure your own module, if it is not in this standard "menu" of options.

For CREDIT CARD payments, you will need an account with a CARD PROCESSING BANK. PayPal is a popular option as it is easy and quick to set up.

You could also choose AUTHORIZENET as your card processor company.

When you have an account with your card processing company, you can INSTALL the relevant payment module, and CONFIGURE it to meet your requirements.

If you are a complete novice at this, it would be better to get professional help in setting it up.

Thanks for the the help. I'll read up on card processing banks and how they work with ZC.
