Cannot access admin after installation with Softaculous

Just installed the latest Zen. Have an old site already up, so this one is just a test for when we switch. I've been brought in new and I'm trying to figure this all out. Here's the test site

The images are a mess... the whole page is a mess... I CANNOT find the admin folder or the tools folders on my cpanel. I'm very green green green, but with some tech knowledge. Just green with web design and ecommerce.

Someone hold my hand, please...

Your admin folder (renamed) will be in the root (top) directory of your store.

Did you use some sort of auto-installer (like Fantastico) to install Zencart ?

I did. I used Softaculous. I had read in another post (I did try to find a solution before posting mine) that these can move the admin folder elsewhere. I thought that might be the problem, but how do I find it? I've got something called zcadmin. Do I just need to rename that?

I gave it a shot and changed the name of the zcadmin to admin and the page still looks the same. I read the article that you linked to, but am not sure if this is what I need. In that admin folder, shouldn't there be a tools folder and what-not?

No. The admin options don't have their own folders.

Using your FTP program, you should be able to find your admin folder in the root of your store.

I went back and looked at the zen cart files that I downloaded to my desktop and noticed that yes... the zcadmin fold is the admin folder. I changed the name, but I am still having the same problem.

You've specified HTTP_SERVER = http://plumleos.com/ in your configure.php files, but you're accessing it at an IP address. Since those are likely different servers, you'll need to temporarily put the IP address in your HTTP_SERVER setting, ie: http://111.222.333.444

I went in and edited configure.php in my includes folder to reflect the IP address. The one in my admin folder (I just noticed) says configuration.php... not configure.php. Should it? Still does not seem to be making a difference...

The /admin/configuration.php is a program script. The /admin/includes/configure.php is the one which contains the settings.

"configuration.php" is very different from "configure.php" :)

I don't know what is soft... I hope it's doesn't matter.
installing zen cart it's easy and it works almost everytime.
I think you have to reinstall zencart from zero.
when you chose password for administrator avoid special symbols probabily there is a pitfall antiinjuction.
Becarefull on file's names and theirs permission.
Try to use opensource software and ...
probably the last point is donate, zencart team ask! they did - done and do a very good job for all of us.

I have pulled it out and reinstalled multiple times. I know it must be something that I am just overlooking... some easy fix. It might be the fact that the site is not live and so I'm pointing to an IP address instead?

I just want to get to the point where I can log in to my admin side and start creating the actual site!!!

When I click on the "Log In" link, I get a Page not Found error. I know why... it's linked to the actual site which is currently with our old host. Where do I change the script so that it points to the IP address?

As I said, Zen Cart creates its links based on the HTTP_SERVER settings in your 2 configure.php files.
Any other links that point to specific URLs are links you've hard-coded into your own PHP or template files, and you'll have to edit those by hand if you continue to leave them as hard-coded URLs.

In other words the doctor says:

open the configure.php files, they are, one in catalog/include folder the other one in admin/include/ folder and take a look "where" they point.
Are they the right links => NO they aren't? => change on your server
if =>YES they do? => probabily in another part of your code (template or something else) there is/are a/any fake link(s).
do you remember the old server link(s)? => put all webcode in a folder (via FTP) and ask your computer to find the old link.
Do you have another dbase beyond zen cart mysql? yes? check there as well.
at last we realy sure you'll find the solution, Never quit! :thumbsup:

Your DOMAIN is not pointing to the same SERVER. Hence none of the images and CSS will load because it is trying to load from http://plumleos.com/test/
plumleos.com points to 67.222.62.81 AND your CURRENT IP where you installed Zen Cart is 68.169.37.34
