Help for a newbie with shipping rates please?

Hi Folks

I have scoured the forum and faq's for this without success:

I only have two shipping rates and need to be able to select the rate that applies to each product, i.e product 1 = shipping rate one, product 2 = shipping rate 2 - sorry if this seems simplistic.

Can anyone please tell me how I do this before I lose what hair is left?

You might look at the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module where you can set the individual shipping per Product by setting it on the Product Weight ...

Then the shipping is:
product weight x product quantity

In the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... you would want to set the Maximum Weight to 5000 and the Tare Rates to 0:0 ...

That is correct ... this shipping module is based on the Product Weight to be used as the individual shipping cost for each Product ...

I don't know what I am doing wrong here.

I have been into Modules/Shipping, enabled Per Weight Unit Shipping, set the Sort Order to 1, then gone to Configuration/Enter the Maximum Package Weight you will ship to 5000 and the Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight to 0:0.

As we are mainly shipping to the UK only I also added the Zone United Kingdom/code GB

I have also set Configuration/New Listing, Featured Listing and All Listing to "Display Product Weight" to 0

I then chose a product and entered a shipping cost to the Products Shipping Weight

However when I add that product to the cart and try to use the Estimate Shipping button the shipping cost still will neither display or go through to the Checkout.

It must be something simple that I am not doing, can you help please?

You say you set the Sort Order to 1 ... are any other shipping modules installed?

You say you have set a Zone on the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module ...

If you look in your Zone Definitions ... what are the DETAILS of this Zone Definition that you added to the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module for the Country and Zone?

The only other shipping module I have enabled is storepickup
If I go into Locations/Taxes followed by Zone Definitions, I only have Zone name = United Kingdom/Zone Description = GB/ Status = Green.

If I then go to Details I have Country = United Kingdom and Zone = United Kingdom

In Shipping Modules/per unit I have selected Shipping Zone = United Kingdom

There isn't a Zone for United Kingdom to chose from ...

There should be:
Country: United Kingdom
Zone: All Zones

If you have a Sort Order on Per Unit, make sure you have one on Store Pickup ...
