Videos Cause Footer to Disappear

Version 1.3.9h

Inserting a video onto a category page or EZ page causes everything below the video, including the footer to disappear.

Here is an example of a category without the video
http://www.findmypromdress.com/red-77/

and one with the video.
http://www.findmypromdress.com/pink-78/

The code comes over from Youtube Embed and is added to the bottom where the video resides.

</p><iframe height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nl8KDRpEa38" frameborder="0" width="420" />

Anyone know what the problem could be?

Re: Videos Cause Footer to Disappear

I am still struggling with this. Every time we edit the page, everything below the video disappears. Using IE8 myself and I don't see anything below the video. Here is an example of what the page should look like. Notice the footer is showing.

Here is an example of where we did edits and the footer disappears.

The 78 errors on the page might have something to do with it.
The text "What is the Meaning of Blue?" just before the video has nested <p> elements and elements such as <p />

I would try to tidy up these code problems
You might just find that the problem "goes away"

Re: Videos Cause Footer to Disappear

Just work through process of elimination. Does it only happen on pages with videos? Then remove the video embed code and see if it stops. If the problem goes away, then have a look at your video embed code.

The main thing is if you look at your html source, the page stops the moment it tries to load the banner below your video. So turn that off for the moment and see if the problem stops.

Re: Videos Cause Footer to Disappear

Thank you so much for taking the time to help. It is the video code, already know that. Taking that out fixes the problem but I did try turning off the banner below it as you suggested. That did not fix it.

I have found a solution (see below) but, for those who are having this problem, this is also interesting:

The code for the video is just the code we copied from the youtube embed function. The code is:

<iframe width="640" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/YXf30DzklyE?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

However, once saved on the page, the code changes slightly. Notice how it movew the width= to the end for some reason and takes out the allowfullscreen.

<p align="center"><iframe height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YXf30DzklyE" frameborder="0" width="640" /></p>

The solution is using the <object "old embed code" from youtube instead of <iframe code. This is an option when embedding the video. The only thing is that the new <iframe code works for Flash or HTML5, the old code works only for Flash.

Thanks again for your help and I hope this helps someone else who is struggling with this.

If you are simply pasting the code in there is no reason for Zencart to 'remove' any of it. How are you pasting it in and using which editor? Or simply in HTML mode? Im running iframed YT vids with no issues.
