change site URL

Thanks to everyone for all the great information on this forum!
I am new to Zencart and have a question:
Currently the URL for my site has /zencart at the end (websitename.com/zencart).
Can someone tell me how I would change this to just websitename.com?

I am using Zen Cart 1.3.9e

This means that zencart has installed in a SUB-FOLDER called "zencart".

If you used "Fantastico" to install it for you (not really a good idea) and you have not yet done any work on the site, best is to just REMOVE all of it and do the installation again... this time making sure that the option input field to put zencart into a sub-folder called "zencart" is empty.

This will load the software into your website ROOT

By the way... if fantastico is installing 1.3.9e, you should preferably do a manual install.

I did use the "easy apps" installation from my webhost (I guess that is "Fantastico") ... and unfortunately, I have done alot of work on the site. I thought I had done everything properly but obviously I was mistaken.

I did find the article 122 but wasn't sure if it applied as the first thing on the list was to determine the "new foldername where your zencart files will be running from" and I thought it needed to run from the root directory not from a folder.

So, can I follow the instruction in this article to solve my problem and do a fresh (manual) install?

I have already created a backup of my site (FTP - copied all files, and used phpAdmin to backup the database). All files are stored on my computer.

Either will work, but 122 is easier. The new folder it mentions would be the root (top) directory of your site (websitename. com).

Many thanks - will try 122 for now and may do a new install down the road - from what I have read on this forum it may save me a lot of problems in the future.
