Adjust these things on template 1.3.9h

Version 1.3.9h

Hi everyone,

Attached is an image with the questions about my 'shop' template.

Questions:

  • Remove alt text from logo and change the logo-link
  • Add link to header bar.
  • Change background colour behind logo
  • Change DATE format from U.S to DD/MM/YYYY easily????

Thanks in advance!

Re: Adjust these things on template 1.3.9h

ALL of these have been answered (some hundreds of times) over the years.

Search the forum for answers and read the tutorial/faq from start to finish (which is what I did, and still do)...

And very soon you will see how things work.

Re: Adjust these things on template 1.3.9h

In order to add a link in the green menu bar with that particular template, you would need to edit:

includes/templates/your_tempate/templates/tpl_top_nav.php

So it's a little more complicated than a simple EZ-Page addition in the admin. However, it can be done. Back that puppy up first, though.

As for your other questions, Schoolboy is right. It is all stuff that is very thoroughly covered.

The best way to learn is to try stuff. But, back it up first.

Re: Adjust these things on template 1.3.9h

That's the pure_green template from 12leaves... Its a very nice little template and adding a link can be done as resco suggests.

However... we found a concerning validation flaw within that template - within the tpl_top_nav.php, to do with the way it generates div ID's for the menu options.

additionally, adding a link requires some additional tweaks to styles.

I can't readily remember all the details, but in short, adding links can be done.

We achieved it HERE. (This is a VERY HEAVILY modified pure_black template, now under the full control of the site owner. ie: We no longer have any involvement in that site).

Re: Adjust these things on template 1.3.9h

Thanks guys for the replies.

I did search for these topics and after going through countless forums and not having them work as they were stated then this is why I posted these questions.

For e.g. Changing the date fomat ended up in having code that caused the shop to go blank. Suggesting that 1.3.9h may not be similar to the examples talked about.

Thanks anyways.

Not in my experience... and we change the mm/dd/yyyy to dd/mm/yyyy on four or five new sites every month... we never have a problem.

Been doing the same procedure since 2005 and back then we were working on ZC 1.2.5 .

What kind of text editor are you using to make the edits?

You European Zenners shouldn't mess with the date format. It confuses me. :laugh:

Re: Adjust these things on template 1.3.9h

Using the server code editor.
I have also tried editing it with notepad and uploading it to the directory.

It must be something small, as I agree, its just code so it should work. maybe a @ or something???? but I did look at the code carefull before I pasted it to see if it was similar. Maybe I should use a comparison software to see if the code is not leaving something out??

If you upload the english files can I just place them in my directory?

Notepad (the basic Windows utility) can likewise cause undesired things to happen to files if the right settings are not used. Notepad++ (free from Sourceforge) is a very reliable and full-featured code editor; there are others as well.

Re: Adjust these things on template 1.3.9h

We could answer that instantly by seeing the site live. It could be one of several elements, like #headerWrapper, #logoWrapper, #logo, or possibly others depending on your template.

	background-color: #ffffff;
	text-align: left;
	width: 969px;
	vertical-align: top;
/*	border: 1px solid #9a9a9a;*/
