adding additional fields to default 'search' - v1.3.9h

After two hours of plugging away with searches and reading I'm giving up and posting.

I installed JT Websites UPC/ISBN mod earlier this evening.
I need to have an additional field for a second model/part number.
I'm going to use the UPC table for that, (products_upc) and
I need the 'search' function to peer into the table.

I populated the UPC table on two items and of course a 'search' does not produce any results.
We have an older version of the parts list that customers may use the model number from and
we need to parse that and return the newer model number.

Some of the posts I've read through show having to edit more than a half dozen files.
Then I find something that looks promising and it turns out to be an old version of ZC.

What files should I be looking at for changing/editing?
I guess I'm having a hard time figuring out how ZC parses the dB
and maybe also suffering from weekend burnout on this project.

Thanks,
_mr

Re: adding additional fields to default 'search' - v1.3.9h

You would need to add your new fields to the:
/includes/index_filters/default_filter.php

and the file:
/includes/pages/advanced_search_results/header_php.php

and add the them your new field and search on the $keywords criteria ...

Thanks Linda, I'll start hunting.

So far I've corrupted something real fine, when searching for something that is in the database it returns an 1064 error, if
the keyword is not in the dB it goes to the advanced search page.
SIGH I may just start over tonight.
