Showing Product Image under Categories on main page

Hi there.

I have been abandoned by my IT guy and swimming in the deep end in Zencart. If someone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Finding a new IT guy will take too much time and I need to make the changes now.

On my main page, I would like to show images under the categories. I have looked on other threads and I have followed the instructions but still doesn't work. This is what I have done:

Admin > Catalog > Categories/Products > edit category > add image.
If you have category images and they are not showing on the home page,
Configuration > Layout Settings > Categories - Always Show on Main Page ->set to 1
Main Page - Opens with Category ->set to 0

So I have actually tried to show an image for the "New!" category on my main page, but it actually shows up on the "New!" page after you click on it. Have I done something wrong??

The image used for display on the main page under categories need to by set up with the category, or you can edit the category. Toward the bottom of the category setup page you will see Category Image section, this is where you need to upload/point to the category picture you want the main page to display.

Thanks for your help. I tried that but it doesn't show up on the main page. For example, I tried uploading an image for the NEW! category but it shows up on the category page and not the main page. See here - http://www.affordableartchina.com/shop/new-c-91.

I uploaded the image in the Category Image section and selected "Main Directory" in the drop down menu, but still no success??

Is there something that I'm missing?

Here is a step by step on how I loaded the category pics:
See the results here

1. Upload the pictures you want to use for the category via FTP to the subfolder categories - in your case it should be in shop/images/categories
2. Open your category editor inside your admin page under Catalog > Categories/Products. (see attached screenshot)
3. Repeat for each category.
4. After saving the image, goto store main page and refresh.

I have tried your steps as well, but it doesn't work. I've taken screenshots of my steps, I really don't know where the problem is. The images show up on the category page and NOT the main home page.

[I did this - see attached screenshot. However it says that it cannot find the image. Therefore, I uploaded an image from the "Category Image" via "Browse" button. This uploaded fine.

3. Repeat for each category.

4. After saving the image, goto store main page and refresh.

I REALLY don't know what I'm doing wrong? I've tried changing the "Upload to Directory" to "Categories" "Website Directories" and "Main Directory".
