multiple images aren't loading

I have tried numerous ways and times and failed to get multiple images to work. I have uploaded four photos (with the base photo [pic009.jpg] being loaded last) to images/main.

pic009.jpg
pic009_1.jpg
pic009_2.jpg
pic009_3.jpg

I have turned on Catalog > Product Types > Product-General > edit layout > Show Product Additional Images and have Product Info - Number of Additional Images per Row set to 4, yet I can't get it to work.

My item is http://yesterdaysmagazines.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=27_39&products_id=257. I am getting quite annoyed and frustrated, so any assistance wold be greatly appreciated. Also, if one can tell me how to make the image on the product info page larger, that would be a bonus.

Thanks again

Re: multiple images aren't loading

I am having exactly the same problem.
Here is the product on my website:

http://www.bonsaitoolchest.com/test/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=72&products_id=243

My image files are thus:

tool_chest.jpg
tool_chest_01.jpg

and they are loaded in the same directory and I have done everything the original poster above mentioned that needs to be done in Admin. But I don't get more than one image.

Re: multiple images aren't loading

Your first image isn't called tool_chest.jpg. It's called tool_chest.JPG

And I didn't find the second image called tool_chest_01.jpg or tool_chest_01.JPG

I did find one called tool_chest_01.png

Multiple images only works when each additional image has the exact same extension as the first.

.jpg is not equal to .JPG is not equal to .png and so on.....

Do you have some kind of image handler installed? The URL for your thumbnail is:

http://www.bonsaitoolchest.com/test/bmz_cache/9/9aac8b4766a177e9eed12a8be203b008.image.150x112.JPG

While the URL for your enlarged image is:

http://www.bonsaitoolchest.com/test/images/misc/tool_chest.JPG

Re: multiple images aren't loading

But this brings up another problem (related)
All of my products have model numbers with image file names that are the same. For example: POT_08_01= model number and image file name (.jpg)
Most of the products have the same model number but with a different last number. For example: POT_08-02, 03, 04, 05 and so on. This is the same with the image file name.

These are all in the same image directory just like the Tool Chest. So why are these images not showing up as more than one photo for one of the pots?? Not that I want it to, I like it the way it is. I guess it is probably because I have Image Handler 3.

Re: multiple images aren't loading

It all starts with the base picture. Whatever the first pic is called, all related images have to start with the exact same name.

So
If the base pic is uglybabypic.jpg
then uglybabypic_whatever.jpg will be related.

But if the base pic is uglybabypic-1.jpg
Then uglybabypic-2.jpg is not related.
But uglybabypic-1_27.jpg is related.

So are you saying that the underscore is the deciding factor?

Re: multiple images aren't loading

No, I'm saying if the first pics name has a # at the end, then that # is part of the name and all additional images must start with the same name, to include that number.

The underscore is just a convenient method of identifying additional images in a list. I put dashes-between-all-words-in-an-image-name.jpg So if I put another dash-then-number for additional images it can be hard to find them in the folders when I need to. So I use the underscore at the end for additional images.

original-image-2714.jpg
original-image-2714_1.jpg

That way if I need to, I can open a folder and scan down and quickly find the additional images.

A clearer explanation may be in the paragraph labeled "Additional Information" on this tutorial:

joejoejoe is right. It's not the underscore that decides. It's the original filename that decides.

Zen Cart v1.x deconstructs your product's main image filename into filename + extension, and then looks for additional images that match the same base filename.

fred.jpg = fred plus .jpg

So, all images starting with "fred" and ending with ".jpg" will then be considered "additional" images.

ie all of these are valid additional images for "fred.jpg":
fred123.jpg
fred_d.jpg
fred-more.jpg
fredanything.jpg

It's all explained in the tutorial mentioned earlier.

Re: multiple images aren't loading

The way I have most of my images identified is as follows:

POT-03-01.jpg
POT-03-02.jpg
POT-03-03.jpg
POT-03-04.jpg
POT-03-05.jpg
POT-03-06.jpg

This means 3" bonsai pot, style #1, or #2, or whatever

Is this the right or wrong way?

I am not getting multiple images in any listings. So it must be OK unless Image Handler 3 is preventing multiples.

If the base image filename associated with your product is "POT-03.jpg" then those filenames would be fine as additional images.

But if you've set POT-03-01.jpg as the base image filename, then none of those other files will be considered.
