Can't delete anything from admin, page not found _SEO URL problem?

I have had a look around for an answer to this but cant find one, it is very odd.

I have SEO URL installed and it works well, however my hosting companies malware scanner keeps picking up a file in it and deleting it. Its harmless and they should have exluded it so it wont happen again.

It may or may not be related, but since the last time this file was restored after I cannot delete anything from Zencart admin.

I first saw this with my subscription manager plugin when I tried to delete an email from the mailing list, I got a zencart generated oops page, page not found. I thought that plugin was to blame.

I have since tried to delete products, featured items, sale items and they all do the same, oops page cannot be found.

I am very confused at this point, can anyone help?

I think you're probably right about it having something to do with your seo url mod. Have you tried re-installing it? Does the url that appears when you hover over the delete link look the same as the one in the address bar when the page loads?

Thats the odd thing, the page is there and the link works fine for other functions that point to the same page eg, adding and editing things.

For example the link below works, and appears as the link on mouse over and the link once clicked so there is no rewriting going on

But this link doesn't, and the only difference is the action=delete, we get the zen cart 'oops' page not found.

Same problem with

Anything with delete in the URL it looks like.

I will try to reinstall SEO URL, but any other ideas?

You don't need SEO URL mod... it has no useful purpose for Search Engines, and it tends to create more problems than it solves.

The big (important) search engines actually prefer that the standard (dynamic) URL is maintained.

If you want your URL's to be "more understandable to humans" then rather use CEON's URI mod.

But even so, unless you are reflecting your site's URL's in other places on the web, where the actual URL is shown as opposed to it being embedded in a hyperlink, there is no need whatsoever to re-write the URL.

Looking like SEO was a red herring any way, when I turn it off and the URLs are not rewitten it does the same thing, so it must be something else.

I am very confused.....

Bit more testing, I have tried typing rubbish into the 'action=' part of the url to see if that creates the same error and it doesnt. It just shows the starting page for that URL, whether it be listing featured items or sale items, without carrying out an action.

As soon as I put action=delete, 'oops' page cannot be found.

More testing and more strange happenings.

I opened functions.php in admin and made the following change

switch ($action) {
case 'delet2':

If I then crafted the following URL

http://www.grimtreegames.com/admin/featured.php?page=1&fID=33&action=delet2

That works and asks me if I am sure if I want to delete. I click yes and the following URL results in oops page not found

http://www.grimtreegames.com/zcadmin/featured.php?page=1&fID=33&action=deleteconfirm

So its any url with the full word 'delete' in it. Does any one have any ideas of further tests I can try? How can zencart think that this page cant be found? What is the code that lies behind that process, that might help me explain this.

Ok, one more test, the landing admin page:

http://www.grimtreegames.com/zcadmin/index.php

That works.

Landing admin page with test variable in the URL

http://www.grimtreegames.com/zcadmin/index.php?action=test

That just displays the front admin page with no issues, so that works.

http://www.grimtreegames.com/zcadmin/index.php?action=delete

That results in oops page cannot be displayed, just by changing action from test to delete. I tried this in the store area of the site and it worked fine, so its just happening in the admin area.

I am getting closer, but still missing something.
