Page showing categories

Firstly, sorry if this is in the wrong section, or if the question has been asked before, I have searched but cannot find the answer.

I understand that the categories can be shown on the index page, but I would like to create a page showing the top level categories and the images associated with them.

Is this possible without a mod?

If so, does anyone know the code required to complete the page?

Link to "index.php?main_page=index&cPath=0" and you will get a page showing the subcategories of "0" which is the theoretical "Top" that holds all categories.

That is brilliant, thank you.
