re; removing custom Sidebox heading font

Does anyone know how to take off what appears like bolding on the Specials Sidebox Heading ?

i.e. it reads "Specials [more]" and it appears to be bold or highlighted in some way as its font appears slightly larger than all other side box headings. I'm guessing it might be coded in a php script. I might even have coded it myself, but can't remember where this might be.

Thanks.

Re: re; removing custom Sidebox heading font

No it's not done in any PHP file... It can be controlled in the stylesheet.css file .

I can't specifically remember what that DIV is called, but if you use FIREBUG you can determine what it's ID is.

Probably something like: #specialsHeading

Then, just add whatever styles you want to at the bottom of stylesheet.css

#specialsHeading {
font-size: 20000px;
font-weight: bold;
}

PS: the twenty thousand pixel size is a little joke. :D

Re: re; removing custom Sidebox heading font

The Classic template has this rule which makes the heading the same size as others:
stylesheet.css (line 542)

h3.leftBoxHeading, h3.leftBoxHeading a, h3.rightBoxHeading, h3.rightBoxHeading a {
color: #FFFFFF;
font-size: 1em;
}

Your template may have a different setting in that rule, or a different rule that affects the sidebox heading links. We could pinpoint it if we could see the site live.

Re: re; removing custom Sidebox heading font

Thanks people. gjh42 that does seems to be the code controlling this one in my case.

h3.leftBoxHeading, h3.leftBoxHeading a, h3.rightBoxHeading, h3.rightBoxHeading a {
color: #FFFFFF;
font-size: 1em;
}

It's odd because if I make the font 1em, everything is the same size on all side box headings, but if I go to 1.2em the Specials sidebox heading is a tiny bit larger than all other side box headings.

I have worked around this by re-issuing a separate command for the right sidebox. So left boxes are 1.2em and right are 1.1em but now the specials sidebox font appears the same size as every other side box heading. Very odd, but it seems to work.

Anyway it's not a big deal, so I will live with this fix, odd as it seems.

Thanks.

Thanks,

Re: re; removing custom Sidebox heading font

The reason you get the different sizes is that the rule applies twice to that heading: it is both a .rightBoxHeading and a .rightBoxHeading a, so if font-size is 1.2em, it works out to 1.2 x 1.2 or 1.44em. Separate it into two rules:

h3.leftBoxHeading, h3.rightBoxHeading, {
color: #FFFFFF;
font-size: 1.2em;
}

h3.leftBoxHeading a, h3.rightBoxHeading a {
color: #FFFFFF;
font-size: 1em;
}

Re: re; removing custom Sidebox heading font

Thanks, yes that's what I ended up doing. Not that it made much sense at the time, but it seemed to fix it. So as you explained, it's seems to be something to do with the way the style sheet is processed in ZenCart I guess.

Anyway it only effected the Specials sidebox and no other sidebox.

Thanks,

Re: re; removing custom Sidebox heading font

It's not just the way the stylesheet is processed in Zen Cart; it is a fundamental aspect of CSS. Rules apply to the elements in the page in precisely specified ways.

It only affected the Specials sidebox because that is the only one you have active that has a link in the heading (there are others).
