Recovering Site After Database DELETED?

Hi All,

I've inherited a Zen Cart site that is no longer functioning as a result of somebody DELETING the MySQL database upon which the site depends (I don't know how they did that; I wasn't involved until now). There is no database backup available; however, all of the site's FILES remain as they were prior to the deletion of the database.

I know enough to realize that a new database had to be created, which I did. I've learned that Zen Cart wants to create numerous tables in the database, so, in a separate area from the "live" site, I performed a Zen Cart install. Then, I went back to the live site and modified both configure.php files to point to the new database.

I can now access the site without getting the obnoxious No Db page, and I can access the Admin panel. At this point, the ONLY change I've made other than pointing to the new database is to load the correct theme from within the Admin module.

I understand why no product data displays (it's gone, of course) on the site, but I am also not seeing the 5 or 6 tabs across the top that used to be there (and obviously, none of the corresponding pages). I can see the files that correspond to those pages (Home, About Us, Guarantee, Contact Us, etc.) in the site's directory on the Web server, so I know they are still there. My guess is that I should (relatively easily) be able to have those tabs/pages display again without the need to RECREATE them in the Admin module. However, I do not know what I need to do to accomplish that. Can someone walk me through that? Am I wrong to assume I should be able to redisplay the existing pages without having to recreate them?

Thank you.

Re: Recovering Site After Database DELETED?

A url would help but it is probably the EZ Page menu that is not showing. Guess, what? All those details are stored in the database

You'd have to rebuild that menu from admin>>tools >> EZpages

But I am just guessing really because without seeing the original site it is hard to know for sure.

Oh, and you might have to enable the EZpage menu in configuration>>Ezpages but I think that it is set to 'on' as default.
