Large Images are not displaying.

Hi everyone,

We are having the issue to display large images.
I click on link "larger image" or on the image itself, the image is not displaying at all. The images are dipslaying only in product info.

I checked all the messages regarding displaying large images but I didn't find the problem.

version of Zen Cart: 1.3.0
Server OS: Linux
PHP Version: 4.4.9 (Zend: 1.3.0)
Database: MySQL 4.0.30-max-log
Above versions are taken from zencart admin page.
Also we have image handler 2.

A link to the site would make it much easier to figure out. And, you should REALLY consider some upgrades to Zen Cart, PHP, and MySQL.

I agree that I need to update version of zencart. I just need to fix the issue with the images first.

First thing I would do is check the path to those images to make sure they exist. Internet Explorer is displaying the 'image not found' red x.

I know that some hacks that your old version is vulnerable to make changes in the images folder.

All the images are in the images directory.

Yes, the site was hacked.
I removed all the malwares that were mostly under images directory.

Currently I am actually trying to add additional product with the image, but the image is not displaying at all.

Under tools -> Image Handler -> there is Clear Image Cache.
Do I need to clear image cache? What also could be done?

There could be a lot of reasons why this is happening, and as you say that the site was hacked, the number of possible reasons just grew by a huge factor.

It could be that the images directory is not writeable (CHMOD to 777)... and if your host helped you fix the hack (if it has indeed been fixed), they may have set the directory permissions to be far more strict.

But... there could be many reasons...

I just checked the images folder properties.

Numberic Value is 705 (Only applicable on Unix hosts)

Owner:
Read, Write and Execute are checked

Group
Read, Write and Execute are not checked

World
Read and Execute are checked

Is it correct? Or everything should be checked and I have to have 777. Should all the subdirectories and files have 777?

This is 766 numerically. You may need 777, which is:

BUT.... what we do is change the permissions to 766 (or 777) ONLY for a short while... ie: when we load new products vial the shop admin.

THEN... we change it back to 755. We do not leave it at 777, or 766.

And yes... if the images are being loaded in SUB folders inside the main images folder, then these too will need to have write permission levels (766).

Again, it is safer to chmod them all to 755 once you have loaded new products.

I've always had mine set at 755, and it has never interfered with adding new products.

The permission is set to 705 for images folder.
I don't have any group, I am login as admin.
It could be that some file were missing or something else, because the site was hacked before. I even tried uninstall ImageHandler and install again ImageHandler 2. Actually when I was checking the files for ImageHandler the files were for version 1. Probably I would need to upgrade the website to the new version of the zen cart.

Also I created a new website and I installed ImageHandler 3. I used the lates version of the zencart. The images are displaying, but when I click on image itself to display large image than the same size of the image displaying.
What should I change to be able to see large images instead of small images when I click on larger image or on the image itself?
As I understand imagehandler should resize the image by itself.
Please let me know.

1. Folder permissions should be 755.

2. Image Handler works (in general) off the SIZE of the image you load into the main images folder.

We generally load an image measuring:

Landscape = 850px x 650px
Portrait = 650px x 850px.

We use only jpg images.

We try to keep the filesize to about 100kb to 130kb and get an adequate level of compression using Photoshop.

Image handler will then be able to render the largest possible image at whatever dimension we have the original images at (eg: 850 x 650). Image handler can't take a thumbnail and make it bigger. Your largest possible size in IH will be the actual size of the main image.
