That really depends on the rest of the story that happened leading up to when you made this post.
WHICH .htaccess are you talking about, and why? What's the business issue you're trying to address with a .htaccess file? Why are you asking this question?
Strictly speaking, Zen Cart doesn't need a .htaccess file in the catalog or root folder of the store. It contains some in some of the subfolders, for security reasons, but doesn't need one in the top of the store's structure.
So ... that's why you really need to be WAY more specific in the details BEHIND your question.
