How to use ezpages/categories as dropdown menu in the header?

I know it's been discussed many times, I just don't see a complete thread, some addon although works for some people but are really error-prone due to whatever reason.

Can someone list 1-2-3 steps on how to use categories as well as ezpages to create a header that has dropdown menu?

Thank you in advance.

Re: How to use ezpages/categories as dropdown menu in the header?

I found this addon very attractive and am testing it, here is the addon: CSS Horizontal Dropdown Menu With jquery

I created a standard zencart with default classic template and:
created two categories and two ezpages

I then applied the addon following the readme.html of the addon.

Now my site looks like this

Where are the other parts of the website?

Thanks.

The site is finally back. Only messy menu, with no any other part.

Why?

You are missing a language file for the dropdown mod. You may also be missing some other file, so that a required element is not available. Look in /cache/ for the latest myDebug file to see what the error is.

Good suggestion, however, in the /cache folder there are only 3 files:
.htaccess
index.php
sess_o0lh7m5m2clitu8unpj382cht5

I don't see any other file there, what's wrong with this addon installation?

Thanks.

I have just fixed some minor issue, now the menu looks fine but still no any contents, no side column, no footer, just empty, what is causing this crash? Thanks.

The last line of your output is ```html

<li><a href="http://www.xiexianhui.com/menu/index.php?main_page=unsubscribe">Newsletter Unsubscribe</a></li>
What exactly should come after that? Whatever it is, it is failing and stopping further output.

That's a good finding! Could you tell me how the first page is generated? I don't know php, reading php is like reading assembly file to me.:blush:

Re: How to use ezpages/categories as dropdown menu in the header?

Zen Cart pages are generated by a lot of PHP files working together (one after another), each creating its own bit of the HTML output based on what was requested.

Is that Newsletter Unsubscribe supposed to be the last link in the menu? Either the next link, or the <ul> closing code, is causing a fatal error. What Zen Cart version are you using again? V1.3.9 automatically logs such errors into the /cache/ folder. If you have an earlier version, you can install the debug utility from Free Addons to do the same thing.

Thank you for your reply but I think I found the cause:

I am on VPN now, somehow the VPN doesn't allow me to use FileZiller, some files are not uploaded to server, even in Control Panel File Manager, the extraction action will fail.

I end up solving this issue by having a bluehost staff to extract the zipped file for me, and it is working fine now.

Thank you anyway, I appreciate this.
