Single product assign to multiple categories

Is there a way in V1.5 to assign 1 product to multiple subcategories, It would be nice to be able to add a product and then select which categories or subcategories it belongs to, i have been browsing the forum but haven't run into a post that discusses this.

This has been possible for years. Add your product, then go to the category/product listing in admin, click (c) to copy, and click the Multiple Categories Link Manager button at the bottom of the copy page.
