Re: color of background

well i got it to where it does not get too weird now but my header does not get bigger, just the page below but at least it doesn't get all spaced out now. i am still working on it, but it does stretch my banners as i changed them from fixed width to %

I'd bet if you can figure out which one it is and remove it that will solve the problem with removing the width from the body creating layout issues on larger monitors. It would probably also solve the problem with the center adopting the background color you add to the body.

The best way to learn is to try stuff. But, back it up first.

Re: color of background

Okay, I can see what you're talking about now, (I'm on a 19" at 1440x900). This is definitely an issue with the mainWrapper. Correct that and the sides will come back in to match the width of the header.

The header is fine, you don't want it to spread out. It's the rest that is still wrong, and the rest is controlled by mainWrapper. This means that you haven't found and removed the </div> that is closing it prematurely.

Re: color of background

After looking through the view source (not exhaustively), I think there is not an extra </div>, but the incorrectly written <font> tags are causing browsers to misread the output. Read post #9 again and follow the advice.

You absolutely do not need the font tags; that is what the lists have CSS classnames for. <font> tags are a relic from the early days of the internet when they were the only way to control text appearance. They are obsolete now.

Re: color of background

It took a while to find one, but this is built correctly and will not cause problems (aside from <font> and <b> tags being deprecated in HTML):```html

<div id="productDescription" class="productGeneral biggerText"><h3><font size="3" color="brown"><b>Item # R-16DVR-1T</b><br /></font>This is a 16 channel H.264 smart DVR with ```

Re: color of background

as far as the fonts for my ez-pages footer i see now way to control color or size without the fonts in my tools<ez-pages< edit

so the only fonts left are in product description and ez-page footer

what do you think, am i ok with those or do i need to keep going

Re: color of background

The footer <font> tags do not appear to actually render improperly in Firefox (it fixes their errors for display), but they definitely make invalid HTML code the way you have them (without closing </font> tags).

You do not need any font tags in the footer to get the look you want. Proper use of CSS classes and styling will do it all. (But the proper CSS styling will not work on your current invalid HTML output.)

Re: color of background

I also notice that some of the links point to strange destinations, caused somehow by your edits:```html
div class="ezpagesFooterCol col1" style="width: 25%">

<ul> <li><a href="https://www.airtightsecurityplus.com/security_equipment/font-size3-color000000-help"><font size="3" color="#000000" />Help</a></li> ``` "https://www.airtightsecurityplus.com/security_equipment/font-size3-color000000-help" is not a search engine friendly (or human friendly) address:)

Re: color of background

yea, fixed those links, cant for the life of me figure out how or where to set color or size for those footer links without the font tags

same thing for the nav_bar i took out the font tags and can not get them to change in css so i guess they will remain blue

I really appreciate your time, i used basic, then learned html when it came out, the php and css, well there just a lot to them... i'm learning but it is a slow process.

I completely understand if you want to leave me in the dirt, with no hard feelings on my part

Re: color of background

Those link colors are controlled here in your stylesheet:

a:link, #navEZPagesTOC ul li a {
color: #0098c4;
text-decoration: underline;
}

a:visited {
color: #0098C4;
text-decoration: underline;
}

a:hover, #navEZPagesTOC ul li a:hover, #navMain ul li a:hover, #navSupp ul li a:hover, #navCatTabs ul li a:hover {
color: #0098c4;
text-decoration: none;
}

a:active {
color: #0098c4;
}

Re: color of background

I have them all set for black (#000000)

a:link, #navEZPagesTOC ul li a {
color: #000000;
text-decoration: underline;
}
a:visited {
color: #000000;
text-decoration: underline;
}
a:hover, #navEZPagesTOC ul li a:hover, #navMain ul li a:hover, #navSupp ul li a:hover, #navCatTabs ul li a:hover {
color: #000000;
text-decoration: none;
}
a:active {
color: #000000;
}

and took the color font out for the headers and none of them are black, they only get black with the hover

Re: color of background

The elements you need to style are all given here in the HTML source:
div class="ezpagesFooterCol col1" style="width: 25%">
<ul>
<li><a ...>Help

Find the rules in stylesheet_ezpages_footer_columns.css that apply to the links (or add new rules if necessary) and style them.

#navSupp .ezpagesFooterCol a { color: #666564; font-weight: normal;}
#navSupp a.activeEZPage, #navSupp a.activeILPage {font-weight: bold; color: #006622;}
.ezpagesFooterCol a:hover {text-decoration: underline; color: #00aa44;}

To make your top links bigger, add these rules and adjust to taste:

#navSupp .ezpagesFooterCol li a { color: #666564; font-weight: normal; font-size: 1.5em;}
#navSupp .ezpagesFooterCol li+li a { color: #666564; font-weight: normal; font-size: 1em;}

Re: color of background

thank you kindly, works just fine

is it possible to add a column header there without a link attached, seems like when i do it makes it's own link
