Return address for Contact Us messages

I have version 1.3.9h my site is https://www.moebow.com

When I receive an email sent from the "contact us" on my page, the "sent from" email address shows up as my stores email address instead of the customer so I have no way to email them back. I wasn't sure where to post this so I hope this is the right place..

Re: Return address for Contact Us messages

The sent from address is supposed to be the eMail address for your store. The "reply to" address should be the eMail address of the sender.

The best way to learn is to try stuff. But, back it up first.

Re: Return address for Contact Us messages

I just sent you a test message through the contact form. When you get it, hit reply and respond.

Re: Return address for Contact Us messages

This is what it shows in my email. And when I click on the "reply" button it prefills the "to" area with my own email address.

Re: Return address for Contact Us messages

Does it have a "reply to" address in the header? What eMail client are you using?

Re: Return address for Contact Us messages

I cannot repeat this issue ...

All emails I have tested in v1.3.9h on several sites have the email address correct to send to the sender of the Contact Us address that was added when sending the Contact US email ...

Yes, I am receiving the emails fine..it is just when I click on "reply" in my email that it prefills the "to" and "from" sections BOTH with my own email address ([email protected])..

I am using godaddy webmail. The header of the received email has "reply" or "reply to all" . When I click the "reply" , it is prefilling the "to" section with my email as I mentioned before. I'm sure it's something simple

That isn't the header. That's just their buttons. The header is the detailed eMail source info. I don't know how to view it in Godaddy, maybe somebody else does.

Re: Return address for Contact Us messages

Okay, I logged in to a client's Godaddy eMail. While viewing the message you'll see a nore actions drop-down at the upper right. Click it and in there you'll find view full headers. Select that and click apply.

Re: Return address for Contact Us messages

I just went through the full headers in a few eMails in a couple client Godaddy eMail accounts. None of them contain the "reply to" entry. This looks like it's a Godaddy problem, (shock, shock).

You have the correct entry so, with any other eMail system, it would work.

Re: Return address for Contact Us messages

Oh I did have one question more. In my admin area under the email options, the "email address <sent FROM>" section...should this be left blank or use mine? Right now I have it set to mine..This isn't the issue I don't believe but was just checking..

That's the email address that your store uses for ALL messages it sends, and will be the "sent from" email address ... which is why it was called that.
