small change in CSS sheets ruins page

Horrified is right! One last question here...where in this template situation do I put my new header php that I altered to remove the "tag line here" text -- Should I have also created a new folder in includes/languages/english that says "custom", and put my new header php in there?

But I have felt uncomfortable with my understanding of the template over-ride system, I now think that the process is starting to dawn on me.

You're not alone. It took me quite some time before it sunk in, and I still get a little confused sometimes.
