Cheque/Postal Orders to create temporary order

I am currently looking into adding the Cheque/Postal Order module to my Zen Cart.

When a customer places an order to be paid for by Cheque/Postal order Zen Cart then creates an order as usual, but if the customer doesn't follow through and send the Cheque/Postal Order then I would be left with random orders that I have received no money for. In the eyes of the tax office I would have very little proof that I have received no money for these orders.

I would their for like to know if there is a way to store orders placed using this option and then when the payment is received the order is the added to the list of current orders and given an order number/invoice etc...

Is this possible?

Regards
Jim

Re: Cheque/Postal Orders to create temporary order

Not really ( that I know of ).

But the usual way I do that is to change the status of the order when the payment is received. So, that gives a firm 'flag' of which orders have been paid for.

One reason that you do not want to do what you are suggesting is that it would mess with stock control ( which may or may not be an issue for you )

Obviously it is possible to write add-on modules that would create and export that information for tax reporting.

Re: Cheque/Postal Orders to create temporary order

It is very easy to satisfy your accountant regarding value of sales completed. Besides... accounting for your tax obligations is something you do OUTSIDE of zencart - (so look at getting SAGE or QUICKBOOKS to run your accounts & book-keeping).

Additionally, you can set the STATUS of orders in zencart (even add your own definitions for these if you want to), and this is how most people manage the progression of the order through initial purchase to final delivery.
