Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Hi Niccol

I encountered the same problem as Tony Sar with both 150 and 139 versions.

There were 9 error messages with IZarc unzip software but I was unable to copy and paste these messages anywhere.

Dumbfounded.

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

OK well I will zip it on a windows machine later today and see if that helps. I can't claim to be a expert in zip stuff. All I do is press choose the 'zip' option and it seems to happen just fine. But am working on a linux machine so ....

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Hi Niccol

If you put *** in the filenames of the zips, this may be the problem, as it appears a common denominator.

Just a thought.

Cheers

@Kim

If you read this then the same issue exists on the version uploaded to free software add ons. Perhaps we could change that :smile:

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Hello there,

Thanks for this nifty little mod. Just one question. Is there need for any tinkering with CSS at all? Just that when I alter it to Rows, the layout seems to appear like this:-

http://www.thegemtree.com/Alchemy-Gothic/Alchemy-Jewellery/Alchemy-Gothic-Chokers

I think my template maybe a factor, but thought I would check with you first. It installed like a dream by the way.

Many thanks in advance,

James

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Hi James,

Well that is a 'problem' inherent in column grid and some set-ups. The problem is that the 'boxes' in the grid are set to have a width of 49.5%. Then in your case the template adds padding to the boxes which makes them too wide.

So as a start you may want to try this:

.centerBoxContentsProducts{
padding:0!important;
}

That should get you some of the way and then you are probably going to want to style the box contents. so you could start with:

.centerBoxContentsProducts{
padding:0!important;
text-align:center;
}

Glad you liked the install. Could you let me know which of the various downloads you used. I made a numpty error on the zip files and want to check that the most recent is working OK.

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Oh, and if you want to see what the boxes are doing you could add:

.centerBoxContentsProducts{
padding:0!important;
text-align:center;
border:1px solid red;
}

temporarily obviously :smile:

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Sorry, you have it set to rows?

I assumed that it was columns.

Can you confirm that for me.

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Hello Niccol,

Sorry I switched back to rows temporarily, but it was columns where I saw the misalignment. Been tinkering a little bit today lol. Thanks so much for the code, I will try it and reset to Columns and get back to you.

Much Obliged,

James

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Hi,

I encountered a problem installing SNAF_1.1
When trying to access the admin, I got
WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again

By reading this
https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=412
and checking the log file (which I am not a good interpreter of it, I figured something wrong with the db, so I deleted all the files contained in SNAF's installation folder.

After that I was able to access the admin again.

A couple of extra info for you:

  • I got the warning after mistyping the password on the admin login page
  • Prior to this installation I had installed SNAF_1.0 successfully on another site

What might have gone wrong? Shall I just retry?

I attach the debug file for your convenience.

Thank you

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Well, the installer is creating that error.

Are you saying that you installed and then logged in to Zen Admin. If so then I would definitely try the same thing but log in to admin first before uploading the files. If the first page that the installer sees is the login page then there may be some issues.

Let me know how you get on.

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Thanks for the quick replay, and apologies for my delay.

I reloaded th files, after having logged into admin, and when tried going to a new admin section (configuration) the same error came out
WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again
till I again deleted the files.

I just noticed something that makes me suspect of a possible cause: the language.

I attach a file I found on the cache folder, plus the new error logs.

The admin language is set to Italian, does that make a difference? As my previous SNAF_1.0 was done on an English admin.

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Darn, yes it is a language issue.

Try this quick fix. Attached is a new version of init_snaf.php. Replace the existing one in the module with this one and then try again.

If you still have issues then I am going to have to take a bit longer to look at it.

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Thanks for being patient :-)

Yup. I missed a trick with the installer. It is something that I have sorted out with other mods subsequently but hadn't realised it was an issue with SNAF.

Thanks for helping find it :-)

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Help?? I have Zen V1.5.0 and am using abagon red template. my site is stageandtheaterlighting .com . I installed SNAF. It installed perfect, the added features showed up in my Admin section, but there was a problem with the desplay.. Here's what it did.. If I had it set to, for example, 4 columns per row, the first row would show 4 products, the 2nd row may or may not show 4 (maybe 3), the 3rd row would usually show 2 or 1, and from there on down, it was usally one per row. Some rows would have 2 per row, but they weren't all lined up,, one may be in the 1st position, another in the 2nd position, etc.. very random. just jacked up looking... I was stupid and didn't try it with the green default template before I uninstalled it. it was very late and I was tired... wasn't thinking.. It probably would have worked with the default template, but I want to use the template I am using. well anyway, would that problem have something to do with the CSS definitions perhaps being different in my template? I obviously don't know very much, but if you could help me figure out how I could use SNAF I would REALLLLLLLY appreciate it.. I really want to show my products in columns (like the "new products" on my home page)... Any help/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.. Thanks very much!!!!!!

Re: Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

Hard to know without being able to see it but....

This can be caused by a combination of factors in the styling. Usually the main culprit is padding in the boxes which means that if you are trying to have four boxes per row then the boxes are two big to fit four to the row.

I would guess that you are in that kind of position. If you put it back to how it was so that I can see then we can work it out I am sure.
