Having trouble installing on local wampserver2.0

Hi folks,

I am trying to install zencart on my local machine, I downloaded wamp 2.3, it shows different interface than the tutorial How to set up a Wamp5 Server and install Zencart on your PC so I downloaded 2.0 and install it again. I followed the steps in the instruction but don't see where to set root password in phpMyAdmin, so I leave the password as default blank, and then continue to install zencart, I got the following error:

0 Install Error: Could not connect to the Database
in:
[DROP TABLE IF EXISTS upgrade_exceptions;]

Can anyone give me some clues? Thank you ver much.

I'm using zencart version 1.3.9

Did you create database before trying to install zencart or is it that you have been unable to create phpmyadmin password etc first?

Maybe this is the reason. I thought the DB would be created during/after the zencart installation.

The error message seems to tell me that connection has problem though because when I tried it again I also see this error:
Connection to Database failed
Host 'localhost' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

Another finding:

When I try to open phpMyAdmin, it rejects me now:

it opens a window with URL:http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ (I also tried http://127.0.0.1/phpmyadmin/, same error)

#1130 - Host 'localhost' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

How to fix it?

You must create database BEFORE you try and install zencart
into wamp and or paid webhosting.

Thank you. The problem is I can't get into phpMyAdmin now, it keeps saying:

#1130 - Host 'localhost' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

Even after I uninstalled it and reinstall the wamp server again.

I have been able to change the root password using console, but wampserver still doesn't allow me to open phpMyAdmin. :no::no::no:

is url to access wamp phpmyadmin.

This is really a wamp support problem, not zencart.
Suggest you visit wamp forums/support for more help.

I fully understand and agree that this is a wamp problem, specifically mySQL problem, I just couldn't get help from there and I really like to get help from here, just like any time before.

I successfully changed root password, however, when I tried to enter phpMyAdmin again, I received another error which you can see in my attachment:

#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

I thought maybe password messes up so I go to MySQL console from wampserver, it prompts me for root password, and I can enter it with the password!!!

Then why I was denied access?

I do notice the error message contains something like using password: NO, maybe I should change it to YES? but I can't go back to the phpMyAdmin now, that's the problem!

I hope someone can shed me more light, I am a newbie to MySQL, so inconvenient compared to SQL. :no::no::no:
