shipping really slow

I have a cart where it takes forever to load the estimated shipping module in the shopping cart. Never seen this before. Did start when the cart was moved to a new server but all the shipping modules are the default ones and only ups and usps and storepickup. I checked the dates on the module for the shipping estimator and it looks correct. No one else on this server is having this kind of problem so I'm quite buffaloed. Any ideas?

Which modules are enabled?
What happens when you click Remove on them one by one? Which one is actually triggering the problem?
UPS and USPS rely on making communication requests to external servers. If there's something blocking that ability, or if those external servers aren't responding, then you'll experience lag. Contact those external services for assistance about problems accessing their servers.

That was very enlightening. Turning off USPS made a major difference. I've never seen this before and it only started after moving to our new pci compliant server with php 5.3.8. Would that make a difference?

If your new server can't make outbound http calls, then you'll want to get the host to fix that.
