StockByAttributes with my stock id MOD 1.0.0

rhuseby:

Looks like the problem is in /includes/classes/order.php, the file is used in both MODs. Did you merge it, or maybe overwrite one of them?

I haven't used FEC before...

I merged them, but maybe I missed something. Let me check that file.

THANK YOU!!
I re-merged this file and now it's working just like it should (so far ). I must have missed something the first time I did it.

I'd looked at every one of the attribute specific files, but hadn't even thought to look at the orders.php file.

Hopefully, I finally have it fixed and working. :)

Re: StockByAttributes with my stock id MOD 1.0.0

Hello rhuseby,

I'm new to this so bare with me my friend.

I am quite lost and excited about this mod but I don't get how it works. I have been looking for this addon/mod for a while now and I am hear to talk to you about your mod because I am simply lost. When I go to zencart and go to products attributes page, I see nothing new at all. Should there be something I am looking for such as a box that allows be to type in the certain amount of stock for each attribute? Say I had an item such as a necklace but I have 3 red, 4 yellow and 2 black, I should be able to type in that I have 3 red and so on right? Or am I wrong?:unsure::unsure:

Let me know as soon as you get this and I am subscribing to this post as well, Bless you and thank you for your time!!!

The core products attributes setup doesn't change. You still assign attributes to products the same way. Once you have the attributes defined, use the menu "catalog/products with attributes stock" to assign qty. and part number to each variant of an item.

I'm not seeing the products with attributes stock page, could it be that I didn't install it correctly? Cause I dont have that option.

Edit:

This is where I am confused and may be having problems:

Create a new database table and a new configuration switch by running the 'stock_attribute.sql' via Admin->Tools->Install SQL Patches. If you prefer to use another method to create this table, you will need to edit the file if you use a prefix such as "zen_" for your tables.

I know this may be easy to do but I have no clue where to begin with this. It's been a while since I've worked with sql, any tips?

Admin menu, tools/install sql patches. Copy the SQL script and paste in here...

Re: StockByAttributes with my stock id MOD 1.0.0

I guess I am just not doing something right because I had the 4 queries go through but I see nothing new and especially don't see the catalog/products with attributes stock button. Was I supposed to query the server first then apply the mod? Or could I have installed StockByAttributes wrong?

Are you running v1.5.0? This mod doesn't work with 1.5.0 yet. It was written for 1.3.9. Otherwise yes, you must have missed something. Backup files, copy all the new files to the appropriate locations and run the sql script... All there is to it.

Re: StockByAttributes with my stock id MOD 1.0.0

Boggled:

I've been using it in Opera and IE8/9 and only have one product listed right now during my testing. Once I get more listed I'll let you know how it displays and if it needs tweaking.

Just wanted to post an update.

It is not displaying correctly in Opera for me. (see attached screen shot)

Not sure if it's a display issue or too many products issue. This is only with 32 products listed and we have hundreds to go.

When I go in and remove the jump to display I'm going to try the dropdown fix you posted.

Thanks again for this mod. It's just what we needed. :)

Re: StockByAttributes with my stock id MOD 1.0.0

I've installed this Mod on my V1.39h store. I previously had 4.1.14 but really need to have my part Numbers on the order, packing slips and invoices.

I did not change my database in any way, after checking the Mod.sql file for changes, additions, etc. All the tables seem to be good.

The Mod simply doesn't do anything at all. There is no change.

Any ideas on what to check?

When you go to Products With Attributes Stock in the admin module and add an item, does it ask for your part number? And error if you leave it blank? It won't change existing inventory, all variants will have to be deleted and added back using the new module so you can tell it what the part number is for each variant...

Re: StockByAttributes with my stock id MOD 1.0.0

Yikes! - Yes, entry of a new attribute does 'politely' ask for a part number, if not entered.

Yikes! because I have about 600 attributes already set up with quantities and part numbers.

Since the (unique) part numbers are already in the database, I don't understand what is going to make it work after they've been deleted and re-inserted?

I was also expecting a (desirable) change in the Attributes with Stock admin screen, as per the install html file, but my interface is still exactly the same as it was before the upgrade. That has me stumped...

If you add a new variant and insert the item # does the item number appear when you add it to the cart? With 600 variants you will want to change the admin interface anyway, I added buttons to take you straight to an item, but 600 buttons would be a mess. (I only have about 50 variants) Earlier in this thread I think I provided a change to get rid of the buttons and make it a drop down list. Other than this link to each variant the admin interface is identical to the original. When you add one of your old items to the cart it should show the model # of the top level product, I wrote it to display that if a variant didn't have it's own part#. I would recommend creating a test store to play with this module and if you get it the way you want then start adding your real inventory to it. Or if the module is working just start deleting variants and adding them back with the part # a few at a time. It would be a major pain to sit down and try to delete and add back 600 variants in one sitting... BTW the buttons I added to the admin module only display properly with IE browser.

Re: StockByAttributes with my stock id MOD 1.0.0

Thanks Ron;
I will play with this and see what happens, per your suggestion.

BTW; The admin 'Products Low Stock; report is king of useless with the StockByAttributes mod installed, since it ignores the attribute levels. Is this something you might turn your attention to?

Most likely not, but you never know. I upload my true inventory levels twice a day. That's really why I created this mod, so I could key on my part number for these uploads.
