Trying to change copy/text on PHP on checkout page and getting an error

I'm trying to change this:

define('HIDEREGISTRATION_COWOA', '<p>Proceed to checkout, and you will have a chance to create an account in the next step.</p>');

To this:

define('HIDEREGISTRATION_COWOA', '<p>Don't have an account yet? Create one now or simply checkout as a guest. With an account you can: </p>');

I'm getting multiple syntax errors though when I do this. My text editor is highlighting the "?", "or" and "</p>" in blue. I don't understand why.

I'm a novice php guy btw.

Cheers

Figured it out. I removed the apostrophe from "Don't" and the php passed. How come it does this though????

Since apostrophes are used in the coding itself, you need to escape them if you want to use them for text. Like this:

Don't.

The best way to learn is to try stuff. But, back it up first.
