how to relocate content of define pages?

Hello.

I need to move ( write ) content of define_main_page.php above contentMainWrapper.

basically content will display under mainWrapper . i am making a slider which i need to be above all other contents including sidebox .

Tried many ways to figure which code to move , adjust ext, all result in different problems.
any pointer would be great .

Define main page is being displayed within body of main page and not header.

i can basically move statement from tpl_index_default.php where define main page is being processed to
tpl_main_page.php
although this works for main pages. , every other page fails to display content . with error regarding require function can not locate file which in this case is define page.

this crap is driving me crazy ..

ok . after all , for my purposes i did not need to relocate define main page . what i did as a rough cut .. i used if ($this_is_home_page)
with series of echo statements to write all the div and ul li i needed to display my slider.

however, i like to included all those statments in a file and include it using require or include function . however i failed to do so , i have no idea how to create a path within require or include function .
